7.0.3.010 build for S905/S905X

  • I'm sorry for the booting issues you are having. I have only 2 S905 boxes and 1 S905X, I test everything on them before posting but it seems like some boxes don't like all the changes. There is only 1 change to I made to kernel behaviour between 009 and 010. Here is the build with that change reverted, should you wish to test:
    7.0.3.010-USB-Revert

Note: device trees are the same in .009 and .010 builds.

I will answer all the questions later.

Hey kszak, why be sorry for anything. We all appreciate your taking your private time to make all of us happier.
Is that usb change made from latest 009 dev version onwards or was it there before, like from first 009 release?
I'm just copying this new one to update folder on top of 007 and will test it out.

  • The change was made on 2nd December, it was only present in dev build(s) that came after: projects/S905: compile USB drivers as module · kszaq/LibreELEC.tv@1527eba · GitHub

Tried the new one but...when restarting the unit it finds new image file with the message below:
"could not find a valid system partition in image file"
Then just restarts to 007 which is installed.

I burned the image to sd card with rufus.
The LE boots up from it but on first restart it hangs.

Second try, not it hangs on LE logo.

  • Whoops, the file extension is wrong. Please rename the file so that is has .img.gz extension.

    No dice...
renamed it, copied it to Update folder, it did the update, first boot normal, working FUC....ing nice compared to 007 but on first restart i hangs again on boot......

    Power cycle, hangs again...

I think, the problems started after your new
    device tree from November, 6th.

All guys having problems/boot issues stated
them after an 009 update in November.

Also, all 009 and 010 versions depend on that
    device tree.

I guess, some machines run fine, some do not.

I have two Nexbox MXQ 4K Pro and they behave
    EXACTLY the same:

007 works fine with over 20 reboots testing.
008 works fine with over 50 reboots testing.
009 the first version worked before Nov, 6th device tree; after that is dead.
    010 is dead.

I even did six installation tests with 007, 008 during
the past two days and I am pretty sure now, 009
and therefore 010 (or their device tree) are bugged in
a certain way that affects not all machines, but some.

I even tried to install the first 009 version, but I
could not find it, because you pulled it, I believe. It
    had an error or so.

Can you check the device tree files? For my boxes
I used the very first one (1G 100M).

  • Yea, something is wrong with boot process itself.
As if boot partition cant be seen after "bios" boot up is finished.

Can we use older device trees like 007 or 008?
What can happen if we use them?
Can you just edit those older files to work with 010 version of LE?

  • From my logs i see :
    ################ SYSTEM INFO ################
    Date: Fri Dec 9 22:13:34 UTC 2016
kodi Options: --standalone -fs --lircdev /run/lirc/lircd
    Arch: aarch64
    Kernel: Linux 3.14.29 #1 SMP Fri Dec 9 01:31:42 CET 2016
    Release: LibreELEC 7.0.3.010
    ############## END SYSTEM INFO ##############

I used the LibreELEC-S905.aarch64-7.0.3.010-USB-Revert.img.gz no device tree added.
into the Update Folder and rebooted but i don't know if the update really flashed.
    See screenshot as well.
    Same random freezes.

I can confirm this. Also the random freezes during boot with LibreELEC-S905.aarch64-7.0.3.010-USB-Revert.img.gz after installing this (didn't try yet the normal version or the 32bit version). I am using a Q-Box 2GB/16GB box.
