[8.0.2e] LibreELEC 8.0 for S905/S905X

  • Expecting delivery of Minix U1 tomorrow... is it better to load it with 7.x.x or 8.x.x ?

I do not have 4k, just a full HD Sammy tv and want to watch stuff, no soundbars or external audio system.

  • 4K HDR movies work perfectly on my S905X box. I use an ethernet disk connected in NFS over wifi, and it's all working fine.

I have still to manually set on my DX750 the color space to BT2020, but apart from that all fine.

I had a PM from wesk05 who has specialised video test equiptment - and he sent this regarding AML HDR using LE on S905x's:

I have since then checked it and I can say the it does passthrough HDR10 metadata except for the MaxCLL and MaxFALL values. For a comparison, Samsung Ultra HD Blu-ray player when introduced didn't send these parameters.
These LE builds do not support Deep Color (10-bit color depth) or can set the output color space to BT.2020. Without those two, the passthrough of HDR10 metadata is really meaningless.

... which are the only ones that really matter (the mastering display primaries seem to be set to the standard P3 values throughout). But that's probably not a huge issue, since this problem affects many playback devices and some TVs even ignore the metadata completely.

  • Hey,

I habe a question. I bought this ott tv box 905x
The description says this box has Gigabit Ethernet Port. Ist this right?
    Because "ethtool eth0" say 100mbit!
I used gxl_p212_2g.dtb, was it wrong?

The MXQ Pro 4k does not have a Gigabit port. the Pro does.

So you really need to make sure which model you have, you can find that out using the About section in Android or using CPU-Z

  • hmm the full name of my box is OTT TV Box M9S-Z8 and all descriptions on the internet say that this box has an gigabit lan port. I'm confused?!
i have just Libreelec on nand. and can't use cpu-z. or are there other ways, ssh commands?

    for example:

  • The test report of the audio output (stereo lossless files) on the latest Builds: 8.0.1 j (and 7.0.3.012 k)

    Players:
    S905 - M8S 2G+8G, LAN 100M
    S905 - K1 Plus 1G+8G, LAN 100M (without tuner)
    S905X - X96 1G+8G, LAN 100M

Note: "Suspend" is working perfectly. Status "Wired Network" does not affect its performance.

    SPDIF (optical)
    Out all frequencies without resampling:
    44,1 - 48 - 88,2 - 96 - 176,4 - 192 kHz (16 and 24 bit)

    USB.
    Out all frequencies without resampling:
    44,1 - 48 - 88,2 - 96 - 176,4 - 192 kHz (16 and 24 bit)

    Testing of different DAC USB-receivers:
Texas Instruments TAS1020B, Savitech SA9023, Tenor TL7022L - Norm. Plays great!
XMOS 8U6C5 - Norm. Plays great! (No crackling, аnd no distortion).

Great job! On behalf of all the audiophiles I Express my deep gratitude! :) Build 7.0.3.012 k - Today is the best for hi-res audio.

Later I will test another two USB-receiver - Amanero Combo384 and C-Media CM6632A. And still need to check the SPDIF "bitperfect".
