Thanks. I'm sure the installation is ok, I didn't do strange hacks, I just installed some addons.
I tried my other box running Libreelec 7 on this old tv and everything works in the boot.

Can I ask you if you run LE from Sdcard or if you installed it to internal ?

Runs from SD card.
The command should work on both installations - it writes data into NVRAM - but I never will install on internal, makes no sense in my case

Ok thank you, I really don't understand why it doesn't work for me too...maybe it's my sdcard that it's damaged. I'll try to make a fresh install on a different sd and see if that command works. So I guess that it's a one time command and you don't have to execute it at every boot, right?

I finally made it! With a workaround. I installed LE 7 on another sdcard and run the command on there. On LE7 fw_setenv and fw_printenv work perfectly. Then I put my old sd with LE 8 back and everything works also on there. I read that fw_setenv is a tool to edit u-boot bootloader from userspace, for this reason now everything works also on LE8. Thank you for your help

I upgraded to CoreElec recently because I thought that it's something new, LibreElec is transforming to or something but it looks like it's a new separate developing community... And I'm not sure who should I stick with to get the best for my minix neo u1? What are you guys suggesting? Sticking with LibreElec or move to CoreElec? Thanks

For daily use LE7 is the best, if you have another SD card and want to try something new use which is the best for you.

I've just received an A95X-R1 box (with S905W) with 1GB.
I managed to force the boot on sdcard (swith at the bottom of jack port).
But impossible to boot libreelec: either black screen after A95X logo, or boot loop after the same logo.
I tried LE 8.2.3 an CE 8.90.2.
I also tried the following DTB files : p281_1g_xxx and p212_1g_xxx
The motherboard is marked A95XA1_V2_0 / 20170905
The internal case is marked A95MINI 8139.
Any idea how to fix this please ?

Seems that your box, Alfawise A95X R1, has a Rockchip RK3229 chipset, not an Amlogic. For this reason it doesn't work. Searching in the forum, they say your cpu is still not supported, I'm sorry. You can read this thread .

thanks for your answer, but under Android , it says Amlogic / Cortex A53 with CpuZ (vs Coretx A7 for RK3229) , and the specs seems to match.
It seems there 2 variants of the A95X R1 : s905W / rk3229

The thing that conclusively proves the SoC type is under the heatsink, but the sticker that's visible indicates S905W.
