In your BIOS, disable "HD-Audio DSP" as it's not required (won't be used by LibreELEC) and is in fact the reason why the audio is misconfigured in the kernel (which then has to be fixed by blacklisting the unwanted DSP driver that the BIOS option has enabled).

Where do I access that BIOS change? Looking all through my LE and Kodi Settings.

Sorry, you should be able to access the link now - it includes a photo of the BIOS option.

The BIOS is the firmware built into your PC - if it's an Intel NUC then you should be able to access it using F2 as the device boots.

Yes, ssh (PuTTY) is the way to add the blacklist. However at this time the preferred option would be to disable the BIOS option as it's that setting which is causing the problem in the first place, and blacklisting as the second best choice. But whatever works!

I don't have the "HD Audio DSP" option in the BIOS of the NUC's nor in the BIOS of a Dell and an ASRock Mainboard.

But...

To Blacklist the device worked...

To anyone affected by the NUC audio issue:

could you please drop your current workarounds (i.e. re-enable DSP support in BIOS or delete the modprobe blacklist file) and test if this build works?

This is LibreELEC 9.2.1 plus the proposed fix (default snd_soc_skl blacklist) alsa-lib: add modprobe.d file to work around NUC audio issues by HiassofT · Pull Request #4260 · LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv · GitHub

If we get confirmation that this works we'll add it to LibreELEC and create a new official build with the fix.

Confirmation that Hias' lastest developer release works for the Intel NUC6CAYH. I now have audio passthrough etc. without changing BIOS settings or doing anything else. Simply copied his tar file into Libreelec's Update folder and rebooted. Many thanks!

I was pulling my <filament like structures coming out of my head> out installing LE on a NUC7i5BNK and was about to follow up to this old thread when I found this. I was installing LE on the NUK, having finally just given up on AMLogic devices being stable, even if they are the current best path forward for HDR. They just won't stop randomly crashing for me playing video - problems I've never had with an Intel based Kodi box.

(and really? the common word for the filaments that grow out of my head is a censored word on this forum?)
