Sx05RE v1.8.6 Emulationstation+Lakka+Kodi

a version for the S912 has just been uploaded to Github.

This is a test release for S912, things might not work as smooth or at all compared to the regular S905 release.

Please test it and let me know if you run into problems.

Known Issues:

No PSP emulation, PPSSPP and the Libretro cores do not work!

No 16BPP so some Retroarch shaders do not work.

Splash screen does not work properly (even worse than the S905 version xD)

Don't forget to use the proper DTB for your device!

Hey guys,

I come back to you concerning PPSSPP.

I still don't get fullscreen even if parameter is checked :

The weird resolution stays when I close PPSSPP to go back in ES.

It might be related to this issue :

That is the CPU, I need information as to what box (brand, model, etc) and what TV resolution (720p, 1080p. 4k, etc) My main box has a S905x CPU and I use a 1080p TV and I do not have this problem, so there is something else that we need to consider.

The box is a beelink mini mxIII II and tv is 4k but display is 3840x2160p

When I launch a psp game from es, display switch directly to weird resolution.

3840 x 2160 is 4K, I had this issue but fixed when changed resolution to 1080p in Kodi

Try without copying over a dtb as sometimes the default one it builds with works fine, I haven’t needed to use a DTB file on either my s905 or s912 boxes

Thanks for the tip, it works but switch to 1080p is not a definitive solution as I have to set up overscan.

Overscan in kodi is ok but not apply in ES.

Is there anyway to get a resolution above 1080p in PPSSPP ?

PS : btw exact 4K resolution is 4096X2160

overscan is to do with the tv, can you change your TVs screen mode to get rid of the overscan? Mine for example I set to ‘full’ or ‘auto’ otherwise the only solution I’m aware of is to set it in Kodi.

And yeah 4096x2160 is true cinema 4K but you won’t find that on ‘4K’ TVs as technically they should be called Ultra HD but the 4K label kinda got attached to them

niabi, mame2003-plus(GitHub - libretro/mame2003-plus-libretro: Updated 2018 version of MAME (0.78) for libretro. with added game support plus many fixes and improvements) has been added to libretro's github, and it indeed is a good alternative to original mame2003. Could you add it to your sx05re bulid as an option of mame cores?

I will check if it works on our boxes and if it does I will add it ASAP.

first if you can SSH to your box, can you type:

fbset

and post the output?

Then try removing the fbset lines from 9 to 57 on autostart.sh

autostart.sh

As you can see there is no option for 4k, so I am assuming its setting it to a lower resolution at launch and giving you problems.

I already cleaned autostart.sh.

I only have these overclocking lines :

echo 5 > /sys/class/mpgpu/max_freq;

echo 5 > /sys/class/mpgpu/min_freq;

echo performance > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor;

I confirm having same problem with original autostart.sh

I found the overscan parameter on my TV which solves the problem for 1080p, thanks!

Even if I prefer 4K resolution, its better than no PSP emulation.

I hope niabi could find something to get back to it.

(I just notice the is a typo on the title xD ) Sx05 as you know stands for S905 and S805, RE stands for Retro Edition (for the emulation part) I admit not the best name, but at the time that was my first choice since I only really worked on those 2 boards (one really, S905 as it was the only one I had)

Never thought of changing the name as this is not really a big project, not many users, not many contributors. But if anyone has any good ideas I am more than willing to change it to fit other boards

I messed up some fixes and I had to do a re-upload, I also added a way to reset defaults for Emulators, Kodi or everything, this way if you have a problem when you update, but you still want to keep your Kodi settings/addons you can just reset the emulators without (hopefully) doing a clean install. I also updated most Libretro cores.
