7.0.3.012f S905 Chip.Enabled Temp Sensor Tests

  • MiniMx 2g/16g S905 Non Branded Beelink
    LE Internal 7.0.3.012f

kszaq I updated to f version NOT THE VERSION WITH TEMP DISABLED.
Because i was reading #670 wkchick
I have working Bluetooth and instant wifi hook up no toggling.

I am not sure but i have done 35 Re-Boots and Power off/on with this Temp Sensor ENABLED Version and
    I cannot get a Freeze.

It would be great for other members with s905 Chip boxes to try the standard "F" version in comparing results.

Edit: Please report all version 12 alphabet releases that work or do not work on s905 chip boxes. I don't want to start another thread.

  • weird, i have tried the 7.0.3.012f build on my MiniMXIII S905 too and it works great without freezes, i turned on/off about 10 times without freeze, with the previous non temp disabled builds i had constant freezes (at max every 2nd/3rd boot)
i will test this later on my 2 MiniMX 1/8G boxes too, will report

  • I tried again this morning, I've lost count but I'm sure I've rebooted 20+ times and no freezing yet. With older builds i could not reboot 3 times in a row.

  • with the "g" build, the boot issues have returned. Reverted back to"f" for now.

The below changelog to version "g" causing bootup freeze again ???
Just commenting to keep track on what this accidental fix of boot freeze in version "f" is contributed to.

    • 7.0.3.012g:
    • more fixes to non-working Broadcom BT
    • added a patch from meijjaa to fix non-working AP6212A BT
    • media_build drivers updated to latest upstream version (2017-01-22)
    • added an udev rule for QCA WiFi to solve non-working WiFi on boot and not break it for others
    • last try of Kodi vq patch amendment
  • 7.0.3.012f had no changes that could cause fixing temperature sensor, not does 7.0.3.012g. It's a pure coincidence that suddenly it started to work for you.

  • I tried to hunt down the problem by adding some debug logging and a NULL pointer check over here: linux-amlogic-le/aml_thermal_hw.c at amlogic-3.14.y · kszaq/linux-amlogic-le · GitHub (because of something like this VBCL ).

But at some other boots the CPU seems to completely halt and a timeout is reported after 60 seconds. I think the a problem starts after registering the thermal callbacks over here: linux-amlogic-le/aml_thermal_hw.c at amlogic-3.14.y · kszaq/linux-amlogic-le · GitHub so switching modes freezes the CPU...?

Also tried to change the dynamics of booting a little by skipping USB initialization by U-boot (WARNING booting from USB will be disabled). Not sure if it helps yet but booting from NAND seems to be a lot faster ;) .

    Quote

fw_setenv bootcmd "if test ${bootfromnand} = 1; then setenv bootfromnand 0; saveenv; else run librefromsd; fi; run storeboot"

Also was hoping that changing the CPU governor helped but I guess not (included in 7.0.3.012d): projects/S905: set default CPU governor to ondemand · kszaq/LibreELEC.tv@d34caf6 · GitHub

  • today i tried to reboot my MiniMXIII many times but it froze at beelink logo on 3rd reboot so kszaq is right, we need to go back to the temp senzor disabled builds

Thanks kszaq. I will keep testing with non temp disabled with my s905 boxes and keep it in this thread.

Using both "f" and "g" TEMP ENABLED releases on 7.03.012 for few days now on Beelink MX64 S905 2GB/8GB box and have had no freezes at all (both hard and soft boots).

Using 108L1 Beelink firmware on NAND on one box. I have 2 of these boxes - one with Android on NAND and one with LE v7.03.012g on NAND. I have no problems with LE freezes on either NAND or SD card (so far.....)

Before "f" I would get a freeze about 1 in 7 times and had to switch to the temp disabled releases.

Sticking with the temp enabled releases for now.

  • I have a Nexbox MXQ 4K Pro, which had A LOT of problems
since 009 without the temp disabled version. Meaning ZERO
chance of a boot. 100% failure to boot.

So, I would really like to help/test, too, but when I install one
of the newer versions with temp enabled and it fails again ...
how do I access the box and get it running again or do I have
to do a complete new installation?

PS With temp disabled there is no problem and I am running
    the newest version, too.

  • If you have a spare, you can simply make a new sdcard with the new version and boot it. Else you can use a card/disk imager software and make a full binary copy of the card contents before creating a new one.

  • Nexbox A95X S905 1gb/8gb
LE Internal 7.0.3.012g Temp Enabled Version

    Random Freezes on Reboot.
Because these boxes power off but don't power back on from remote with LE,
i could only test with reboot.
Powering on cold boot seems to not freeze.
I've only tried 8 times with no freezes on cold boot.
So i am staying on Temp Enabled Versions from here on to see what changes.

Rare Box but i will report as it is an S905 Chip.

LE SD Card 7.0.3.012g Temp Sensor Enabled Version

No Freezes at all. Reboots Power On/Off

That's it i have no more s905 boxes to test.

Apart from the Nexbox A95x S905 1g/8g which i mention above,
The rest of my s905 boxes all work with Temp Sensor ENABLED.

Use SD Card Versions. Make a fresh g version.
