7.0.3.010 build for S905/S905X

  • Nothing, if I update to 010 from 009, it always stays in the Beelink logo and will not boot. I have a Mini MX III. Has anyone with this Android box managed to install the 010? If I remove the hdmi cable, it starts up.
    I'll be back to 009

  • Thank you for your help. I can solve my problem. Now system is running on internal nand fine. :)

  • I have MXV+ device 1G, 1 Gbit (MXV+ (MXV Plus) Review: Android TV Box powered by 64bit Amlogic S905 • AndroidTVBOX.eu). Android says that it´s p201 board. But I have LE configuration with gxbb_p200_1G_1Gbit_RealtekWiFi.dtb device tree and everything works great.

Thanks for the reply. I have just tried that along with all the other gxbb_p200_2G device trees and they dont seem to boot. The p201 is the only one that has worked so far, but I only get 1GB ram not 2GB.

  • Please try entering this command over SSH and then play your video: echo 1 > /sys/module/amvdec_h264/parameters/error_recovery_mode.

woohoo ... yes ! Thanks, that fixed the 1080i/50 synch problem. The video quickly recovers from the source error and continues to play "normally".
I've now added that command to /storage/.config/autostart.sh

    Great Thanks :):D

  • hi again kszaq ...

any thoughts on the 720p/50 problem (looks like it might be a pull down issue, brief stutter every second) ?

I have managed to work around it ....

    • In System / Video menu mpeg2 acceleration = off (for all resolutions)
    • whilst video is playing invoke video menu, set Deinterlace Video = off and then Set default for all videos

The video is still arriving at the tv as deinterlaced, presumably the hardware is deinterlacing it by default. Quality is good and the hardware is able to decode 1080i/50 in software at about 30% cpu across each of the 4 cores.

  • Hi guys, Im currently using the latest dev build in .10 in 64 bit mode on my A95X S905X box - if I want to switch to 32 bit can i just drop the 32 bit .img file in the update folder over SSH and then reboot or do I need to do a fresh install?

you can update to 32bit but then:

    quote:
"Note on 32-bit build: If you want to switch to 32-bit build, you need to clean your addon cache first:

    Code
    rm -rf /storage/.kodi/addons/packages/*

, after updating force refresh every repository you have and reinstall all binary addons."

    There is instructions in OP.
    And #244

cheers....do I type the above 'code' in via putty ?

  • envagyok I tried you clip, while logged in via SSH with the following results

    • Clip began playing, sound could be heard
    • No visual elements appeared
    • Play stopped after 5 secs (just before the end ?)
    • The machine was still available and responsive via SSH
    • Could not kill (pkill -9 kodi.bin) or restart (systemctl restart kodi / systemctl stop kodi) kodi successully. The commands all completed ok, but a kodi session was still visible (ps -e | grep ko)
    • Could commence the reboot process, and the screen would reset and SSH exit, but final shutdown & restart did not occur. Screen left in dark state and no ability to log back in via SSH.
    • Can't even ping the host at this stage (presumably all services are closed
    • Had to remove and restore power to force a restart

You might want to generate a system log (see the forum post on how to generate a log)

  • The 64bit version of LE causes a memory leak. This must be the cause of your problem.
    kszaq recommends the 32bit version.

It happens to my box as well. After 24 hours, memory usage went from 17% to 65%.

    Thanks !
I checked and indeed I saw a few KB leak every second ! Chaned LE to the 32 bit rev, and leaked has stopped.

This build has been causing boot freezes for S905 Boxes and the fact your box boots with p201 device tree, has left me with no idea why this has happened.
You might have to do a fresh install of 7.0.2.009 (2016-11-06) and make sure you use device tree from that version.
Try the device trees that match 2gb ram and the speed of ethernet.(100 or 1Gbit) whatever yours is.
I am saying this as this boot freeze in 7.0.3.010 is not happening in 7.0.2.009
At least then you can find the right device tree without worrying about 7.0.3.010 being the possible problem.
If no device tree works using 7.0.2.009 then we at least know that is the issue.
