Plex Media Server on LibreELEC

  • Thanks for keeping this addon alive, i was using it at the time it was created.
Is the addon working with Krypton?

If anyone else is wondering, yes this addon works perfectly on latest Krypton beta build .
    I'm currently using  LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64 v7.90.009.

Sorry if I missed the answer to this (I recently revived my Xtreamer Ultra 2 and switched from OpenElec to LibreElec so that I can run your plugin).

Since my Xtreamer is just used as a PlexServer (media is mounted via NFS) what is the best way to update your plugin via SSH/command line?

For my Plexpass upgrade I normally just delete the current "/storage/.kodi/addons/service.multimedia.plexmediaserver/lib" and replace lib with the content of Plexpass. In order to update your plugin, is it as simple as deleting the content of "/storage/.kodi/addons/service.multimedia.plexmediaserver" and then unzipping your latest version (and then restarting the Xtreamer)?

You can continue to update it the same way you do Plex Pass build updates, as there hasn't been any changes in the addon itself since 1.1.2 (see the changelog).

To update the addon on a headless system, you can just replace the changed files which is usually /bin/pms.start along with the /lib content.

Is this addon going to show for imx6?

    Regards!

    No plans to.

  • For anyone needing to update Plex on headless, I do this - just swop out the download URL)

  • I have installed the PMS add on, version 1.1.2 into Kodi on my Raspberry Pi 3 running libreELEC. Although the add on is installed and enabled, the "run" option on the information page is grayed out so I can't run the add on. Is this normal? I used the url above with my IP address in place of 192.168.1.100 and I get the message "Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at 192.168.0.116:32400." Do I need to access the url directly from the RPi? I don't have a keyboard or browser on my RPi, so I accessed the url on my Macbook. Will that work? What am I doing wrong? I am not a power user with Linux and am fairly new to LibreELEC. I set up the RPi in hopes of using it for a Plex Media Server, but I need big help here! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

  • I think this addon is only for x86, not for arm (pi).

You can use pi as Plex server with other os, like dietpi.

Edited: You can install docker on LibreELEC. Then run plex from docker container instead. (See this repo)
    - after first install, wait for 5 minutes (or more maybe) before try to access plex web interface.

  • Heads up everyone. I noticed that earlier this week that PMS had not added any new content to the library. I found the following entries in the Plex Media Server.log:

I had been running version 1.1.7 version of the add-on. After upgrading to version 1.1.9 of the add-on (PMS 1.3.3), library scans and updates resumed normal operations.

Linuxserver.io repo is now in the libreelec repo. Once you install from there, then you can install the docker addons including plex media server from the linuxserver repo

  • Hi Hugepants,

I have installed Libreelec 7.0.3 on Pi3. Kodi 16.1 runs well, other plug ins are working fine. I am now trying to get PMS 1.1.9 running and have downloaded the 100mb file and selected install from zip within Kodi. The add on states it has been added successfully, but in trying to connect to Pi IP:32400/web from a laptop I get a refusal to connect message in the browser. I notice within this thread that people are saying that it works fine, i just wondered whether I am doing something wrong, or the version above have any issues... and seek some advice.

    Cheers,
    mlynch
