Thanks for testing!
I could reproduce the issue with your samples on RPi3, it seems to be a kernel bug. I've pinged popcornmix and pointed him to this thread.

bleep42 I did some more testing and the issue seems to be firmware (not kernel) related.
Could you test LE 9.2.3 again and replace the firmware files in /flash with the contents from this ZIP? rpi-firmware-9e3c23c.zip
This reverts the RPi firmware to the April 15 version, with that your sample files played fine on RPi3.

Hi HiassofT
I can confirm that reverting the firmware to the files that you provided in the zip has cured the problem.
Thank you.

Looks like we got a fix for the kodi lockup / kernel oops issue [le92] ffmpeg: update RPi HEVC patch to latest version by HiassofT · Pull Request #4411 · LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv · GitHub , quick test on RPi3B+ with latest firmware went fine.
The fix will be included in the next LE release, for now please use the firmware revert workaround.

Hi Hias,
Ok thanks for looking into that. No rush as far as I'm concerned. Slice working very well as is.
Regards, Kevin.

CvH boots fine and works fine with music files and internet streaming which is all I use this particular box for.
Edit: it is a CM3 unit

Hi CvH,
Tested with H264 & H265, using various screen resolutions; MP3 and WMA, audio through HDMI and BT, all working great thank you.
Regards, Kevin.
Hi,
I have noticed that my Slice is saying there is a new update 9.2.6 is this a valid update for the Slice?
Regards, Kevin
(who still uses his slice almost every day)
LE 9.2.6 is/was a general release for all hardware inluding Slice boxes.
(who still uses his slice almost every day)
Kevin, me too... I have 2, well one in a case and one naked, and I too use them every day.
chewitt there are at least 2 users still out here . Keep up the hard work on Slice, please.

There are 79 of you in total (declining slowly with time). Currently there are no plans to release further Slice-specific images, e.g. LE10. I'm not entirely sure what the status of things is upstream and how realistic it is to configure Slice support using the RPi images. I think we hand everything back to the community to figure out.
HiassofT pointed out that you can run the normal RPi2/3 image and just need to replace some files somewhere one time.
But due the current progress at the RPi drivers its unlikely that we release anything for RPi2/3 either at LE10.0 (likely 10.2).
Copying dt-blob.bin from LE9.2 to the FAT partition might be enough to get an RPi2 image booting. Recently a user used that to successfully boot RpiOS (ex Raspbian) on a Slice with CM3
Trying (and failing) to resurrect my Five Ninjas Slice with CM3 - Kernel Panic - Raspberry Pi Forums
As I don't have a Slice I haven't tested that myself so can't be 100% sure if that'll also work with current or future LE 10 images, but I'm quite confident and you should have a starting point.

Thanks everyone for continuing to support the Slice its very much appreciated.
HiassofT I've successfully booted an RPi2-9.2.6 image, its very much useable and I have been able to test video and audio content from both the local drive and a network source via the ethernet port.
in addition to the dt-blob.bin i also copied:-
config.txt
overlays\ws2812.dtbo
overlays\slice.dtbo
I also added the following to the config.txt
dtoverlay=slice
dtoverlay=ws2812
dtoverlay=mmc
not sure if any of this extra stuff has made any difference but its done me no harm at least.
ws2812 doesnt seem to be working anymore but that might be because i need to install the slice addons.
I have not tested:-
IR sensor working
Analogue Audio & Optical not working
Wifi Dongle working
Radio Remote Control working
Happy to help with any testing in the future, I'll probably keep the RPi2 image until the next update to see what happens!
Cheers
Edit: updates on testing
