Without getting a log of the start process of the system (u-boot) from the console UART, no one will be able to help you. Do you know at what stage the error is ? I'm not psychic enough to guess it without a log or equipment.

Btw, one question: isn't Lima ready for Mali 400/450 on S905 series Amlogic?

And if you just want to stream 720p how much would the kernel 4.x dev issues affect you for HDMI or AV output?

shippy Mali450 works with Lima. There are some limitations - missing features and a bit suboptimal performance. This will improve. With the latest Kodi master you can use 720p Netflix with Lima.

So I just use S905, X, W with 1/8GB preferably, streaming 720p or sometimes 1080p. Right now S912, S905X2/Y2 are too high tech for me ...what is the point of JeOS if you still need more memory and CPU ?🐵🐵🐵

Maybe the next interesting project would be to dual USB boot a home Openwrt router, the $15-20 AliExpress TPlink variety- should be possible 👺👺 Perhaps it can't do Kodi, but VLC possibly.

Actually it's already 5.x. With S905 you are in better situation as if you don't like Lima (it'll improve over time!) you can build with closed-source userspace blob. For obvious reasons this is not possible with S912.

Fortunately for S9xxX2/Y2 the userspace blob is available until Panfrost supports Bifrost GPUs.
