I have tried uninstalling both apps, rebooting and reinstalling both and still the same problems.

Kodi just restarts when trying to start emulationstation.

I was unable to locate the 3 log files you mentioned.

Tried to repository on the current version 8.0.2 Libreelec and find that EmulationStations doesn't start. It ends up restarting kodi?

What am I missing?

If you go into the retroarch menu under sound you can change the option by using left or right on the joystick. Pick the correct item then exit save the settings (also in the menu) and exit retroarch. Can be done on a game by game basis.

OR

ssh in while your in kody use aplay -L (not the capital L) find you what sound card your using. copy that to the asound.conf file.

i.e. in asound.conf

# Device name can be found using the command 'aplay -L'
default "hdmi:CARD=PCH,DEV=0"

Now find the retroarch.cfg file and change the audio device to the same info.

i.e. audio_device = "hdmi:CARD=PCH,DEV=0"

Then give it a try.

The commands cputemp gputemp and hddtemp all seem to work. So how would I display this on the screen. (for debug issues as hardware or software)

Is there a way to have this and the CPU/GPU temp shown when enabling debug logging is enabled?

Also, In the LibreELEC addon network, you can setup an NTP server.
I am using

Timeserver #1 time.nrc.ca

This in combination with setting up the correct region (as in your screenshot) solve my time problems.

You can add a web address as a source in file manager.
You can add and FTP or sFTP as a source in file manager.
WebDAV server...

This will get you what your looking for if on the other end you have the software setup for FTP or Web access etc.
Many routers allow connecting a Hard drive to them. i.e. Linksys 1200AC has esata and USB3.0 and has the ability to setup sFTP for connection over the internet.

From what I can tell there is also a Google Drive add-on also, Help Google drive movies/TV files intergrated into Kodi

All solutions are Kodi based and not LibreELEC.

I set my remote up by programming it manually. I too use an IR reciever (USB) and everything works fines.

I have x64 with LibreELEC

I to had no display (just cracks of light) on my laptop.

Try this trick............. laptops typically use a magnet to sense when the screen(lid) is closed. Use a magnet and run it close to the top edge of the hinge till you see the broken screen flicker off.
Keep the magnet there.
Now turn off the computer and turn it back on. The computer will disable the laptop display (thinking the laptop is closed up) and LibreELEC will default to your HDMI1.

If you had a banned repo I have heard that it might be better to reinstall from scratch your LibreELEC image to ensure nothing bad was done, Is this not correct?

Worked for me also, however it resulted in changing the the monitors from eDP1 to eDP-1 and HDMI1 to HDMI-1
as a result I needed to change my xrandr statements in autostart.sh

It was such as subtle change I was scratching my head why the HDMI stopped working.
