j3455-itx motherboard and LibreELEC 8.1.0 Beta

Hello,

I bought a asrock j3455-itx motherboard (GPU Intel HD Graphics 500) and i installed first LibreELEC 8.0.2.

After i installed manualy via SSH LibreELEC 8.1.0 BETA to have 4k 10 bit hardware decoding. That work ! Thx.

But i met a other problem on 8.1.0 BETA, the passthrough audio don’t work. All format audio (AC3, DTS, DTS-HD, etc.) is converted to PCM. (Note : Same thing, if passthrough option isn’t selected.)

On the 8.0.2 version, only Dolby Digital and DTS passthrough work other format (DTS-HD, TRUE-HD) is converted to Dolby Digital or DTS, if only passthrough Dolby Digital or DTS is selected. If i selected DTS-HD, TRUE-HD in passtrought menu, I was entitled to silence.

I know that 8.1.0 is a beta version, but why this difference compared to 8.0.2 ?

Is it a configuration problem in Kodi ? Or LibreElec ? Is a driver bug ? Is there a workaround?

Someone can help or explain me?

Ps : I put kodi.log in zip & a screenshot of gui passtrought.

Make sure "sync playback to display" it not selected, as this forces output to PCM.

Thx for info. Is the good solution.

This option is little vicious. I read the disputation at kodi forum.

Other thing , why DTS-HD and DD TRUE-HD is not recognized ? When i enable this in passtrought, it's the silence.

I must disable to convert these flux in simple DTS or DD.

Intel drivers doesn't support this "feature" at Linux

If this get fixed at all some day is highly unclear till date.

btw this is just for the J3455 and J4205, the older and the newer generations have support for it (due that converter chip that they build in for HDMI2.0). ~~The upcoming boards have native HDMI2.0 and most likely passtrought again.~~ *edit* sadly not

Have you installed the latest beta? I've got no more sound output over hdmi after installing it. Reverting back to 8.02 fixed it. I'm using the same J3455-itx board and faced similar problems as you.

I've created an edid entry and also updated LSPcon to v1.66 since the same chip is used to convert the signal. Also I've set "Keep audio device alive" to "Always" and this seems to work until updating to the beta version.

I intend to buy a motherboard with J3455 apu onboard, is the HD audio passthrough still an issue in latest Libreelec versions ?
