raspberry 5ghz Wifi

Hello!

I am using an raspberry pi 2 as LiveTV streaming client, currently running OpenELEC 6.0.3. I just tested out LibreELEC 7.0.2, but it does only recognize 2,4ghz networks from the neighborhood and not my 5ghz network. Unfortunately 2,4ghz is unusable here for streaming. (Found over 140 networks with Vistumbler without leaving my home... )
is this a known issue, maybe 5ghz is not supported yet? is there anything i can test out without any programming skills?

USB-Dongle: CSL AC450 with Realtek RTL8811 chipset
Access Point: Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC Pro with latest firmware

Can you confirm that the dongle works elsewhere on 5Ghz?

By all accounts, it should be possible as long as the "chip" is recognised.

Try
#lsusb

and see if the adapter is recognised.

If so, check dmesg, to see if any error messages are associated with it.

#dmesg|grep -i <adapter name>

Also, use a powered hub for the adapter or use, at your own risk (As you need a dependable PSU) , the double USB power command in config.txt max_usb_current=1.

Wifi dongles use a LOT of power ~400ma

If still no luck, post output from lsusb, dmesg (via pastebin.com (Never post long messages inline)

Hi,

5ghz is working with OpenELEC 6.0.3 on the same pi with same psu (at the same position).
On LibreELEC it shows 2,4ghz networks, so i think the adapter is recognized. but i will check out with lsusb and dmesg.

Hi,

I have also tested v7.90.003 ALPHA, same problem.
2,4Ghz seems to be working, 5ghz not.

Powersupply is this one with 2,5A:

No other USB hardware is connected to the Pi.

5ghz on 8812au broke with this patch RTL8812AU: Fix AP timeout and disable power saving (backport) by MilhouseVH · Pull Request #322 · LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv · GitHub
vpeter was kind enough to make two builds without those patches, one for rpi2 one for imx6. Both tested and worked fine with 5ghz on two different 8812au wifi sticks.

if you want to try yourself here is build for rpi2, *****
it's le8 with krypton just so you know.

same with peters build, 5ghz network not found.
maybe because my adaptor has the RTL8811 chipset and not RTL8812?

You use RTL8812AU driver. Can you paste lsmod to be sure?

Guys im using Intel NUC with AC (my router is also AC1900) with Dual Band support 2.4+5GHZ and im with 7.0.2 and i can't find the 5GHZ at all....
Please help
