There are no plans for creating such an installer for the SDcard based devices. A would-be-nice feature will remain just that for the time being. It's "first things first", meaning setting up our 'core' business.

I got my msata SSD and connected it to the Pi today.
A /dev/sda device is shown up - unfortunately theres no fdisk available.How can I partition and format the new drive from libre elec?

Hi,is it possible to add an installation dialog like the generic builds to the Pi builds.
I plan to add small SSD to my Pi to hold the system and usd the SD-card only for boot.This can be done manually but an installer (and support on updates) would be nice.

how did you do this as in use MicroSD just for boot then use the SSD for rest ?

In short what I did:
1) Connect the adpater board with the msata drive and the SDcard of the pi to a linux system (CuBox-I in my case)
2) Figure out which device they are (dmesg or simple try opening /dev/cd[a..z] with parted
3) Create one primary partition (type 0x83) on the msata drive
4) format the new partition as ext4 (mkfs.ext4 /dev/sd<your letter>1
5) mount the new partition and the data-partition (type 0x83) of the SDcard
6) copy all (including the hidden directories e.g. .cache) to the new drive
7) change cmdline.txt on the SDcard (first partition FAT32) from
boot=/dev/mmcblk0p1 disk=/dev/mmcblk0p2 ssh quiet
to
boot=/dev/mmcblk0p1 disk=/dev/sda1 ssh quiet
connect the msata dapter board to the pi
9) insert the SDcard into the PIs slot
10) power on and check/enjoy

It's better practice to use disk=UUID=<string> to mount /storage from cmdline.txt in case you ever connect another USB drive and reboot to discover it claimed /dev/sda instead of the SSD drive.

Labels can be duplicated as well, UUIDs are the safest way.
I use labels - but not 'storage'. It means I can run different versions on different partitions, and copy across machines easily. Using 'storage' as the label can cause issues if you end up with 2 'storage' partitions (eg you plug an xxxxELEC usb stick into an xxxxELEC machine.
From experience; the number of people that label a large USB drive "Storage" is quite high
I can see how that could go horribly wrong.
It's just an example, you can name whatever_you_want, but yeah UUIDs are the safest way.
