[RPi5] No real good working over longer period of time

  • In my configuration (RPi5, 8GB, Ethernet, Connected via SAT>IP, Connectivity 300/50 MBit) I have problems with RPi400, RPi5 (500) running KODI 12.1 over a longer term (e.g. movie). I get artefacts on the screen - the system behaves pretty good directly after viewing, but after some minutes the first artefacts are coming (sound and graphics).

I switched down from 4KH UI to 1080 and now to 720 (but no changes). I have no real idea, where to look at ...

PS.: The environment with SAT>IP worked over the last 8 years with a Panasonic TV set without problems

  • The config here is generally recommended https://wiki.libreelec.tv/configuration/4k-hdr and is written by me from experience with multiple ARM SoC boards; but mostly RPi4 and now RPi5 which are the family daily-driver devices. I don't have any issues with green artefacts on the screen aside from occasional moments streaming live broadcasts from a Tvheadend instance; due to signal issues on the DVB-S2 side of the setup, or bandwidth glitches which result from the Kodi client being 7,000Km from the server.

I would start with an update to a current LE13 nightly as even if you find an issue with LE12/12.2 we have no plans for more releases that would bring fixes to that version. Running newer/latest everything might not solve anything; but at least you eliminated 1,000+ differences between versions from possible suspicion.

  • Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link
  • The same happens with KODI under Android, then I used VLC under my X64 system and guess what: it worked WITHOUT problems. It shows the SAT>IP stream WITHOUT any problems. So, its perhaps the Octopus PVR AddOn or KODI in general ... no idea
