[x86-64] Freezes system when copying files to a mounted samba share

Hello

I have a problem copying files from /storage folder to mounted samba share "nas.mount" in /storage folder.

For files over 30 GB the system freeze. Just starting to copy results in the Kodi interface freezing. The system completely crashes after exceeding 30 GB

Libreelec 12.0.1, on previous versions of Libreelec 8 and 9 this problem did not exist.

My transfer is at 800-900 Mbps, I can try to limit the connection speed, but how?

EDIT: It's not about the file size, but the transfer amount over 30 GB, no matter how long it takes to send.

Regardless of your current freezing problem, I would not recommend transferring (writing) data via SMB as long as the kernel version used is greater than 6.2.16 and less than 6.10.9. There exists a ugly regression and a high risk that you get corrupt data

HarryH Those issues are irrelevant to data copied to the LE device (LE hosts Samba server) which will not us the in-kernel SMB client drivers.

I didn't want to distract. Nice to know that LE itself shouldn't be affected. It was not obvious to me whether it was mounted exclusively via LE and not via the operating system. And because I could reproduce the issue with 2 desktop linux clients in daily use too, I would only ensure that RomanHT is aware of it.

Most of the usually LE traffic is read-only (with the exception of TVheadend recordings, etc.), but he writes from LE device to NAS so that he could have been affected ...

Libreelec 12.0.1 generic-legacy x86 version runs much slower than 9.2.6, this is not progress, but regression.

Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
2. Restart Kodi
3. Replicate the problem
4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link

RomanHT Does you LE machine run samba server or samba client? It is not entirely clear from your post.

If you are copying from LE to samba server, then HarryH may be right about kernel bug. If so, you could try latest nightly build

myokaski Samba server run on NAS, in Libreelec only mounted Shared Samba Folder.
