THX!
Was able to switch back from legacy to normal generic on my AMD 4300GE CPU/iGPU. AV1 still black screen but that problem was @legacy too. -
hi, do you know when a configuration of the fan trigger points for the RPI 5 will be available?
Unfortunately, it's terribly annoying that it keeps spinning up and down again.
-
Have you tried running without it? .. the boards are designed to run way hotter than most users are comfortable with.
-
My Pi 5 is in a homemade chassi with a 12V fan on 3,3V, cant hear it at a distance of 10", never goes over +40C.

not for a long time, but even the Pi 4 got too hot without an active cooler when playing videos and clocked down
I use the Pi 5 in my home cinema, so I want it to look good (or be inconspicuous) and be very quiet.
I currently have this case and have drilled 6 extra holes in it because I thought the ventilation would not be good, I only read later that the Pi 5 does not support fan control.

I do to, mine is tucked away inside a cabinett, dont see it at all.
-
I'm running the bare board inside a closed space (cupboard fronted with speaker cloth) in a room with an ambient (AC controlled) temp around 24ºC. There's no case (so no fan) and it's out of sight and out of harms way .. until the flirc cases start shipping. It's never 40ºC cool but also never that hot, so temps and throttling haven't been an issue.
-
I have it in the case with copper heat sinks and the 40mm fan, today at noon it had 57 degrees Celsius during a movie when it revved up.
I'll test it without the fan, but I'd prefer it with the fan because of the longevity
When I tested the rpi4, it always ran into the limiter and the Rpi 4 consumed less power -
There’s a whole ecosystem of expensive accessories built up around the RPI world. Since the original Pi I bought I never had one in a case nor ever needed fans or heat sinks.
At the price they retail for why end up paying double your outlay for a fancy case. A sheet of acrylic and four stainless coach bolts and nuts and you have a case that everyone will admire and is totally reusable no matter what model you own.I firmly believe the whole RPI accessories scene has become an obsession. At the price you pay for an RPI they are practically disposable items. Certainly not a medium to long term investment by any stretch of the imagination.

Yes. We already updated kodi in the LE11 branch https://github.com/LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv/pull/8504 and if testing goes fine 11.0.5 should be released soon.
so long,
Hias
