My library isn't updating when I remove files from my hard drive?

  • I've just started using Kodi with LibreELEC on my Raspberry Pi 3. I've managed to get pretty much everything set up now. I'm using a hard drive with two folders 'movies' and 'TV'. When I startup it scans for new files and add new movies or TV to their respective libraries. But it doesn't remove movies that I've deleted off of my hard drive.

Why isn't it doing this, and how can I change it?

  • The default Library is designed to scrape and add files but not auto-delete them. Installing the "Library Watchdog" add-on from the Kodi repo should give you what you want.

  • Another more basic manual option is to goto "Settings -> Media -> Library" and use "Video Library -> Clean Library" option.

(To manually perform a clean-up of removed video items as and when you require)

Note in order to see/utilise this particular option you will need to be switched from the Standard view, to Advanced (or higher) view of Kodi GUI settings.

    See https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Media/Library#Clean_library for further information.
