[9.2.1] RPi 4 Doesn't Connect to WiFi on Boot

  • My WiFi connects normally when I manually connect it but sometimes fails to connect when it boots up. Under my Wifi network it just says "failure" instead of saying "connected" or "connecting". I've also already tried using the "wait for network" setting and it hasn't helped.

Thanks for the help in advance!

  • Code
    echo "options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=US” > /storage/.config/modprobe.d/cfg80211.conf

^ until a GUI version of this appears in v9.2.3, run that and reboot, then see if things have improved?

No, that didn't seem to help. I will note that the problem is very inconsistent. It will connect a couple times then not connect a couple times and it seems just random.

It sounds like a communal garden "flakey connection" .. the soluions are:

    a) Run an Ethernet cable

    b) Use an external WiFi device with a better antenna

    c) Use an Ethernet bridge (combines both)

    d) Run and Ethernet cable <= always the best

RPi4 has better wireless than previous Pi devices that I've used, but it's not the best WiFi device.
