RaspBerry Pi 1 B+ does not boot v7.90.006 ALPHA

Hi,

so 7.9.4 worked fine. I upgraded to 6 (auto update). When it rebooted right after the splash screen (or rather during) it gave me a Oops 5 (#1) ARM and some trace and that is it. I figured it could have been the upgrade process so I used the USB creator to write a new install on the SD. Same result.

This worked finr with 3 and 4 (auto upgrade). 5 I did not try so not sure if it had the same result. Any idea? Given that I have not really altered or did whatever to it, there is not much I could have done wrong...

Please take a photo of the stack trace on screen; close up and steady enough that we (or someone who understands it) can see all the text clearly.

Milhouse just tested 7.90.006 on his Pi1B and it's fine. Upgraded using tar.

Perhaps your SD card is having the jitters.

I've just tested 7.90.006 on my Pi1B using the manual tar upgrade process, and no problems booting into Kodi.

Try using a different SD card in case your current SD has "gone bad" (they have a limited lifespan).

Likewise 7.90.006 on Pi3 is working fine on 3 of my setups.

See attached picture. SD card is fine. It was running alpha 3 or 4 and I upgraded it to 6. Failed. I then wiped the SD and wrote a new image on it. Result is the same. I went back to openelec and it also worked fine. I do want to use LibreElec though

The trace doesn't show much; other than it doesn't include the usual references seen when the SD card is bad. It's not a general issue with 1B hardware as we had several staff (one of whom works for pi foundation) successfully test boards with the 006 image; so there's no eureka moment.

Thank you for looking at it AND having inside. It is frustrating if the mechanic doesn't know what is wrong with the car but at least he tried. I would tip him

I will wait for b7 then. Wish me luck...
