DVBSky S960 USB failed=-110

  • Hi

I'm using DVBSky S960 USB SAT receiver on RPI3B with Libeelec. It generaly works fine until following lines appear in dmesg output:

    Code
    1. [4952.874220] usb 1-1.2: dvb_usb_v2: usb_bulk_msg() failed=-110
    2. [4952.874235] usb 1-1.2: failed=-110

Since that nothing but hard restet (power off) receiver and restart Libreelec can help.
I did some searching over Inet and found 2 solutions:
    1. replace power supply (I did but without any special results)
    2. install new firmware (don't know how to do it on Libreelec)

    Any help appreciated
    BR

  • I had exactly the same messages when using the S960 over an USB hub on my CuBox-I.
Directly attached (e.g. without the hub) the messages disappeared and everything was working as expected.

How is your setup? If you also have an USB hub maybe this could be worth a try.

    It's connected directly to RPI....

  • Bit wired that MAC is always ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff .....

Here I can find fw version = 3.B. How about yours ?

    Code
    1. [   10.356228] m88ds3103 3-0068: found a 'Montage Technology M88DS3103' in cold state
    2. [   10.357459] m88ds3103 3-0068: downloading firmware from file 'dvb-demod-m88ds3103.fw'
    3. [   11.390301] m88ds3103 3-0068: found a 'Montage Technology M88DS3103' in warm state
    4. [   11.390315] m88ds3103 3-0068: firmware version: 3.B
    5. [   11.406394] usb 1-1.2: DVB: adapter 0 frontend 0 frequency 0 out of range (950000..21
    6. 50000)
  • Firmware is the same 3.B
But mine shows a valid MAC address...

To be honest I don't have an idea what might cause this issue, just wanted to share what helped me.
Anyone else here who can help?

Thanks - I know now that I have working fw and set up :)
Maybe somebody else could help me ...

  • i dont know which version of kernel you using but im master DVBsky for me driver are broken
im usual use crazycat driver, works much more better.

  • Finally all works fine !

    Tip for others:
I replaced my power supply for both RPI and DVBSky. Since that time no error occurred.

  • hello the DVBSky S960 V2 USB works well in libreelec, it's just to connect and tvheaded will recognize it and it will work fine or I have to compile the drivers
