Looks like Windows v19 nightlies now include patches to make it work without having to use external players. Still would prefer to have a *nix based solution.
Intel true 10bits/HEVC/HDR support... ?

Yeah it works well, I had been using the builds before it got merged into the nightlies but eventually I gave up with windows update breaking dual boot etc
I’ll go back to my NUC when/if HDR is sorted but for now I’m happy using the N2+. -
I wish I could use v19 as primary but unfortunately I rely on Artwork Beef for my extended artwork needs and currently it doesn't work d/t the python changes
Will continue to use Vero 4k+ for now on my UHD tv and my NUC w/ LE on my non-UHD tv.

There is a new LSPCON patch which suppose to fix a black screen issue.
Here's a new build if you wanna try it.
Gemini Lake users can use this build too. I updated Kodi and LE to a current master and added a missing patch that makes switching to HDR mode more consistent.
Hi, tested this build on NUC7i3BNH. LG OLED switches to HDR, and subtitles are bright as expected, but no video, black screen.
-
Finally got my Odroid H2+ up and running today (first attempt didn't work because of a non compatible NVMe) using most recently posted build.
4K HDR10 triggered on the TV. Have video going also. HD audio (Dolby ATMOS in this test) is also properly bitstreaming.
WOOHOO!!!

smp,
Hi,
next step following mini-PC displaying native TV HDR stream with drmprime :
could be great for a GLK-R laptop to have a kodi19a'version (in prime image) working with multi displays (a HDR TV behind hdmi on a J4115 laptop with it own ipanel that is actually the only display detected), is it possible?
Thx for your hard job, anyway.
Hi again,
Each time i boot from this GLK laptop (KUU K2), with any latest images from SMP (even at least 0830 one), I get correct dual duplicate screen from LibreElec till Kodi 19A starts.
But the splash screen goes to only internal display, and no way to detect my HDMI LG OLED (grayed) in System config. So obviously, cannot do any HDR on 1080 laptop screen.
But when booting official release without HDR patches/advanced, I can choose my HDMI display and blank the laptop panel.
So again SMP, is there a way to boot from a GLK laptop (and not any kind of mini PC) with hdmi2.0 external display ?
I know of course that you are not a developer, only a release builder, but are you aware of that problem and a way to get out ?

There is no Prime DRM option to activate on Kodi Player windows config... as opposite of LibreElec on GLK mini PC, meaning no way to get HDR handshake to OLED LG TV....
Do you get HDR video passthrough in your config ? Or only HDR decoding then streaming 4K direct on display ?

I'm not familiar with this hardware, so no idea.

Ok.
Anyway, thx for your work for us...

Standard Generic builds are very different, they use X11 windowing system. HDR-enabled builds don't use that. I suppose something needs to be fixed in Kodi in order to enable output to an external display on your laptop.

DRM PRIME is a Linux thing.
HDR will not work in Windows on GLK. No HDR support in Windows driver AFAIK.

Looks like we are in Kodi 19 alpha land now instead of just nightlies .. woohoo

Link?

Ah - I thought you meant a LibreElec Matrix alpha release.

- Official Post

alpha is basically nightly in Kodi terms
thats why we don't release anything official yet, still too much changes

Was just noting one step closer

Well, I booted laptop with internal display connector disconnected, and KUU K2 has indeed true HDMI2.0 so I confirm I was able to boot & run 8/30 image and play HDR & Atmos passthrough to my LG OLED from a laptop priced 230€!
Now i'm hoping final LE & Kodi will be able in a near future to boot on laptop with Kodi letting choose the display, and if external HDR capable TV, pass HDR stream on it from loal sources...
And later for Kodi in Windows env, ... but intel is still there with their so bad drivers to get our Gemini lake out of their sandbox.
I think intel is actually losing all their future customers, as "legacy" NUC6/NYC7 can run HDR on core with NVM38/NVM33 TBT3 fw (both thru DP alt mode hypervised by TBT controller), and these NUC are only DP1.2a, not 1.3 nor 1.4...
Nice, is'nt it ?
While nVidia & AMD let us do so easy... That is another story.
For now, keep on working on linux sources to get HDR a commun facility .. et many thanks for your work.

Some new patches for LSPCON HDR just showed up.
[v5,08/11] drm/i915/lspcon: Create separate infoframe_enabled helper - Patchwork
[v5,09/11] drm/i915/lspcon: Do not send infoframes to non-HDMI sinks - Patchwork
[v5,10/11] drm/i915/lspcon: Do not send DRM infoframes to non-HDMI sinks - Patchwork
If you feel like trying them here's an image.
Can you please post a new link to this build as an old one is dead.
