chewitt, now, when using the mainline kernel, everything is the same at the linux packages level between Allwinner and Amlogic. With one exception, the m2m cedrus and meson implementation are not compatible. Is there some standardization / merge in progress on that matter?
-
Thank for your hardwork! Finally my plus2e can run recent version of kodi with hw acceleration. Is there any chances we can use hyperion with these builds? Seemes like there some issues with framgrabber.

I suppose hyperion needs working screenshot functionality? That will need extending Kodi and maybe kernel too.

The video pipelines for Amlogic, Raspberry Pi and Exynos have stateful decoders while Allwinner and Rockchip have stateless decoders. It's not possible to combine them into a single m2m implementation as stateful/stateless work in fundamentally different ways, although we are working to minimise the differences and have ffmpeg mask the implementations so there's still a single/common interface with Kodi. As there's no prior art for anything it's a "two steps forwards, one step backwards" kind of process, and there's still a ton of code to write, but the direction is still forwards, and each month ever more bits of the big jigsaw puzzle are falling into alignment.

I found only this thread about orangepi+kodi+hyperion bundle

Yeah, then I remember correctly. Frame grabbing is not yet implemented for DRMPRIME renderer, at least not for the method it uses.

Allwinner project has been recently merged in LibreELEC master repository.
This brings following changes:
1. Nightly builds will follow soon. They will overtake a role of images/updates linked in this topic.
Where do/will I find these nightly builds? I find only the "Milhouse" nightly builds for "generic"(x64) and Raspis.
PS: Happy Easter everyone, especially Jernej!

Index of / has nightly images from Jenkins.
-
I believe that nightlies are in here: Index of /
-
Sunxi page is currently down lets hope after the easter holidays someone fixes it
Edit: back online

How are we supposed to install the new nightly builds for H3? I only see builds for the orange pi 2 and the orange pi plus, but I have an orange pi pc+

You are right, just a small subset of the devices has a nightly, I suppose that the others will follow shortly chewitt ?

I have basic H5 port, but it's not very stable. You can build it yourself, though:
GitHub - jernejsk/LibreELEC.tv at h5
You can build image by:
PROJECT=Allwinner ARCH=arm DEVICE=H5 UBOOT_SYSTEM=orangepi_pc2 make image
Reportedly it works good at 1080p, but my 4K test sucked. BTW, HDMI CEC also doesn't work.
lumpi I was intentionally vague. Just go with chewitt proposal.
Thank you for your work on this. I'll have to wait until HDMI audio output is working because in my set up I can't use analog audio (or rather, it doesn't make sense). CEC is less important for me and only a nice to have and at that price point I don't expect smooth 4K support.

If you have different, unsupported board, drop a message here. I'm interested what are the most popular boards. TV boxes are not supported, except Beelink X2.
Not sure if Orange Pi 2 Lite will be added to the list any time soon?
I do realise it's an H6 which is still in early stages in terms of mainline kernel support.
Some improvement since 5.0.8 but Jernej knows all about that
will follow this thread closely, nice efforts!

Just in case, Armbian'd recently added OrangePi One+ (armbian download) to the nightlies. Works quite well, though still no HDMI

dolphs pineH64 is first supported H6 board because TL was kind enough to provide early samples and thus I can test everything on it. Unfortunately, I haven't received any H6 based OrangePi samples, so currently work for those boards depends on people who have them. But I see that mainline effort for them progress nicely, so I might add them soon.

LibreELEC-H3.arm-9.1-nightly-20190424-319be3b-orangepi_pc
It also works with x265 10bit with hardware acceleration disabled
Thanks a lot for the link
