Any easy way to transfer plugins and plugin settings to a fresh install? I've done way too many fresh installs and it's a pain to setup everything.
You might be able to just drop the tar file in the update folder, but I am not sure if it will work. So, for safety sake, create a backup, copy it somewhere else. Then try dropping in the tar
I think I tried to update to a CoreElec-build once, messed things pretty good.
Then perhaps you just need to do a fresh install, on a different usb

Restoring addon backups between builds often ends up with a broken system as they tend to drag in incompatible python helper addons. Unless its a straightforward upgrade from one version to the next, its always a good idea just to start from scratch. A pain I know but if you don't it can often lead to unexpected problems way down the line that breaks a subsequent upgrade.

I did find out that just copying the settings file for particular plugin after installing the plugin works quite well, no need to type the settings by hand.

The device trees are all pre-loaded and located in a dedicated folder within the Coreelec system disk.
Copy out of the folder to the root directory, delete the dtb.img and rename the copied file to dtb.img
Simples.
