how to end kodi and access command line console?

sometimes ,i want to debug my devices such as joystick,IR remote controler.

i want to see these devices work status.

so i try:

one: i use putty connected and type "systemctl stop kodi",it work,but no access command line console.

two:i modified "extlinux.conf",add a line "console = ttyS0" at the end ,it no work.(or console should be tty? tty0? ttyS1?)

You already have SSH access. You have a console.

What if you don't have access to a computer ? is there no way to go into a console from kodi?

On generic you can do ctrl+alt+f3 to get a command line shell. This functionality has been removed for ARM devices if I recall correctly.

For non-x86 devices it depends on uboot configuration. If the device uses the manufacturer provided uboot (which is the case in 99.99% of Amlogic boxes) it will not be possible as the console config is not required for Android so is missing from the uboot config. For SBC devices where we provide uboot (and in the future when running a mainline kernel where we can force CMDLINE options) it's possible to have a console same as Generic.

You can just add "textmode" to the kernel command line and you'll boot into a console - this should be supported by all projects.

For x86: edit syslinux.cfg in /flash - there's two, one in root (legacy BIOS) and a second in EFI/BOOT (UEFI boot) so edit whichever you are using. Add the word "textmode" (without quotes) to the end of the line that begins with APPEND.

For RPi: edit /flash/cmdline.

For everything else: dunno.
