Roll back intel video driver (ivy bridge gen) to previous versions

Hi,

I'm experiencing a lot of random lock ups, corrupted displays, jerky/stuttering 23.x / 50 /60 playback with Libreelec versions 8.x.

I've seen other people having problems with nvidia and having some success with rolling back their video driver to an older version.

Is this possible with intel gpu ?

Not had a very stable system (video wise) since helix/isengard versions...

It's possible by compiling your own. What you should rather try is creating /storage/.config/xorg.conf with this content:

Code

Section "Device"
  Identifier  "Intel Graphics"
  Driver      "modesetting"
EndSection

Then reboot. It's known to work better than the intel driver in some cases.

Weird. I had no problems with a couple of Krypton builds I tested on my C1037u Ivy bridge box. And that was up to 4K rendering.

I tried that last night but had a crash within a few minutes, so removed it and rebooted as wife was waiting to watch something.

Looking at the crash log it's complaining about ERROR: Process - failed to create audio renderer so I think adding that xorg.conf may have adjusted the audio settings due to different video device?

It's crashed even without that xorg.conf a few times today..

It keeps mentioning errors on VAAPI and renderers...

No, sorry. This is not normal though, does it happen on a clean install?

This was a fresh install on two machines, both exhibit the same stuttering playback and lockups and crashes..

Do you mean without any add-ons installed?

Playback does have the same stuttering straight after install yes..

Yes... Just a plain-jane install. Enable debugging via the advancedsettings.xml setting <loglevel>1</loglevel>, play a stuttering file, and upload the kodi.log file.
