I think I have got confused with another post, this is if you get a message there is not enough space to create a backup.
to see the backup folder, in storage, from there you can delete the older tar backup files to create more space.
try it
in windows explorer type in the ip address of the device

Can you update from 8.2.5 to 9.0.2?
I think you need to do a fresh install.
You might be able to create a backup, save it somewhere, then restore after a fresh install, not sure if it will work.

All I can suggest, is try a cable if you haven't. The try different video settings, refresh rate etc.
As for advance wake on lan. I have had problems waking my nas.

I am not very technical. However, I would start by installing the latest stable 9.2. I would forget about advanced wake on lan for the time being. Are you using wired or wireless. Are you using a nas?
For the video problem, try playing the file direct via usb.
If thats ok, then connect the network. Perhaps nfs would be better than smb.
More details of you setup would help people to help you.

Kodi is used for viewing media ie movies music on a tv. You need to own the media, so you rip a dvd or blu ray to a usb hard drive. Kodi will download fan art etc to show on the tv. Downloading illegal content, or using addons that pirate movies cannot be talked about here.
There are addons that enable Netflix, Amazon videos & HBO. Of course you need a valid account.As for remotes, I think most people use a flirc dongle?

bubblegum57 sorry mate not sure if that was sarcasm with the gchq comment so just to be sure are you saying it won't work with NordVPN either or that I should try it cos it's what has made it work for you (despite the fact that you are actually based in the UK so should not need any vpn in the 1st place)?
anyway, there must be something I am missing indeed, because on my Windows 10 PC, ITV works fine both with all of BulletVPN, ExpressVPN and PureVPN. so it just doesn't work on the box. zomboided any idea what could be wrong or how I could check further, please?
It was a poor attempt at sarcasm. Nordvpn using a uk server, wouldn't let iplayer work.

second question, if I may, please... I have already tried BulletVPN, ExpressVPN, PureVPN, Surfshark and all of them say connected (to a UK server) but ITV / BBC iPlayer / UK Turks streams still don't work
am I missing something in the setup / could this be something about my ISP or router etc, or is this geo-location feature just a matter of luck and trying? The addon of my home locally restricted tv streaming service DOES stop working when I connect using the VPN which indicates it does indeed work. At least BulletVPN (see post above) and ExpressVPN insist it should work with specific servers, but I have always tried all the UK ones to no avail.I use Nordvpn, I can’t get iPlayer to work even from a uk server.
Perhaps GCHQ have setup the security for iPlayer

I had previously installed to internal and don’t have “original android” image files. Is it possible to undo back to SD card or update to latest generic S905x Libre/Core?y
Try freaktab for an original or custom rom, then look for how to install the rom using sd card maker or usb cable thingy

Head over to Coreelec, try one of their images, installing it to sd card.

For dvd's you can create an image of the complete disk, using makemkv, that will give you the extras
If you don't want extras, but just the main movie, I would use mkvtoolnix, you can then select the vob files to give you just the movie, as an mkv
mkvtoolnix can also join, both mkv's to one movie.

What I did from memory is,
add videos, add smb network, with nas ip address, user name & password.
save, then come out go back in browse to the new network location you added.
if you want nfs, & are using a synology
