But when i check the kodi repo the latest inputstream is 20.2.3.2
And i need a later version to be able to install youtube. Does anyone ahave any tips? I've tried to download the zip file manually but it doesn't work since i get a "couldn't be satisfied" error. On the attached image you can see that i have 20.2.3.2 installed, and that is the only one i can actually install.
I'm already on it. I rearrange the core config and added back mupen64plus to generic and add pcsx_rearmed for low-end generic systems. They aren't assigned out-of the-box but since they ship with the build they are useable. I guess after all beetle_psx is too demanding for so old systems but it's no problem to add an alternative.
Awesome! Well it does work perfectly now! Thank you very much for all your help!
Well have you tried to run escalades build and verify the problem is gone? I don't see why those libs should solve the problem but anyway you could extract the gamestarter package and copy the psx or pcsx rearmed into the cores directory in Configfiles/Retroarch.
Anyway upload your retroarch.cfgretroarch.logXorg.0.log and maybe there is something wrong.

That version doesn't have the issue (with the gamestarter repo)
Thanks!
UPDATE:
i have the exact same issue on escalades build also if i use the default build in emulator/retroarch. the only one that works is the one from gamestarter.. so weird.
I also noticed, when i download Beetle on LE8, i still get the issue, after that i try to install Rearmed and get "failed to open librecore" when i launch, but if i do a clean install of LE8, and START with download PSX rearmed ONLY, i.e I'm not touching beetle, everything runs smooth as hell.. But when i have rearmed installed, and get beetle, then uninstall beetle, i can't open rearmed again. "failed to open librecore". for my shitty laptop i guess Rearmed is the way to go, i can't understand why rearmed only works with gamestarter tho.
I HAVE SOLVED THE ISSUE!!!
I removed beetle PSX, resetet core assosiation, launched tekken 3 from rearmed emulator, and guess what! awesome graphics and NO LAG!!!
Go to video settings and set "Max swapchain images" to 3 instead of 2 and psx and stuff should run fine with enabledKMS even on your old system. Should work on my older builds as well and it's fixed for new installations too.
If your gaming laptop screws up ... well I have no clue about Nvidia & Linux drivers.
Just tried it. It made no difference at all with swapchain images
But when I set it to 1 it made the performance worse.
5schatten I see, Will wait for the new build to upload and try that then!
Update:
I just tried this build on my gaming laptop, it has an i7 CPU with an NVIDIA GPU. And yes it does run much faster, 60 FPS all the time BUT, the graphics are still very weird, a few artifacts just like on the bad laptop (Tried using Beetle PSX with threaded video OFF). This never happend with the gamestarter one. So weird haha, I will upload a video later to show the differences!
Edit again: No point in uploading a video, the camera can't see the artifacts etc so yeah haha
What confuses me is the fact that your RA runs slower once kms is disabled. I experienced it vice versa and psx runs fine without kms on my lowend system. Normally pcsx rearmed is tailored for arm systems and shouldn't run faster on generic x86 systems. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah It's weird.. Maybe I'll make a video tomorrow to show the difference between the two, LE8 and this build i mean, I'm out of ideas haha
And i really want it to work, this build has everything I'm looking for in a media center!
Edit: i also tried to turn of the audio completly, which should in theory make the emulation faster, but it didn't make any difference in speed/lagging/artifacts.
Well okay then the point is escalades script checks for a celeron or atom cpu by getting these information. As you stated grep finds nothing because Intel named the CPU T1600 and not Celeron T1600.
So I'm really not sure if this will fix the problem for this setup. Anyway you need to disable KMS for beetle_psx otherwise it will stutter & lag. But also don't enable threaded video!
Anyway I fixed the moonlight existing moonlight problems -> now it runs fine even with unsupportted resolutions & crappy names like Sid Meyer's stuff.
I see.. well.. On LE8 i run retroarch from the gamestarter repo (PSX rearmed) with all the default settings except that i turn off Vsync and i set the refresh rate manually to about 59 hz, and audio quality to "lower". That way i get a really smooth gameplay, no lag whatsoever. But I'm really lost atm. I have tried with and without threaded video, lowered settings, raising settings etc, PSX still lags a lot on this build + the graphics are weird (the only game I've tested is tekken 3 which worked fine on LE8). I know that the laptop is crap.. 1.66ghz dualcore is nothing to go bananas over.. But since it does work perfectly with LE8 it should be able to work on this build as well..
Not only does the the game run very slow.. But graphics are weird, it can sometimes show artifacts + sound is very laggy etc.. in LE8 none of it happens.
That's the one I use. But with 4 gb ram and with the monitor removed and plugged into my TV. So it's a celeron. Gonna get some sleep. Writing this from my phone. Will come back tomorrow cheers!
Sure about that? AFAIK pcsx_rearmed is used for arm systems like the RPi and I use it for them too.
Yep 100% sure. I'm even playing using it right now, i got LE8 on a USB stick in the meantime haha
Watched the video.. a little too advanced for me, but a little of it makes sense to me haha
Btw "Right now I'm buidling the same core lakka / gamestarter uses to ensure it's not a core problem."
Do i just wait for you to release it or do i still need to do something? I really don't like being spoonfed.. and you've already helped me a lot but I'm not sure what to do haha
And about that software/hardware stuff. the laptop I'm using is indeed very slow, but if i look in the PSX Rearmed core settings it does say "Software" as the renderer.. and it still runs perfect.
Update you RA cores and try to grab "mednafen_psx_hw_libretro.so" because my build ships with "mednafen_psx_libretro.so"
I guess LE8+Gamestarter runs faster because it uses another core / build option. Same goes for escalades build both build the mednafen_psx_hw_libretro core.
I suspect your system is to slow to run the core fast enough with software rendering enabled.
Display More
Well, i tried the "Beetle HW core". And that just crashed retroarch.. but i will try.
Can you explain step by step what i need to do? I mean, how come i can't just drag the .so core into the retroarch folder? Do i need to download Openelec from github and compile everything? New at this.. never compiled anything before haha
You used LE8 Remix or did you use LE8 vanilla + Gamestarter Addon? Basically you could use escalades build since his kernel, emulators, frontends and stuff are quite up-to-date. I only "forked" because I need Kodi 18 and the underlaying build system has some new features.
Well do you get a blank screen with enabled KMS and manually set display? Do you have "threaded video" enabled? Because this option made my psx emulator stuttering too.
I only see 52.5 "Vertical Refresh Rate" which basically means your panel runs at 52Hz as stated in Xorg.log . IMHO "estimated screen framerate" means RA runs/renders about 32fps so basically it just runs pretty slow.
I restarted again with the xorg.conf, now it works, it DOES show 60 hz now instead of 30. but it laggs a LOT.. i think it lags more than before. And yes, i tried using official LE8 + gamestarter. It worked very smooth (except that my controller doesn't work with that build)

If your X.org is locked to 30Hz for some reason, then using X11/opengl for RA will definitely not be a smooth experience. I'd try switching to the X modesetting driver, and also make sure that you are using KMS in RA.
Thanks for your answer. How do i switch to that driver? i only see:
gl
vulkan
null
etc
And how do i make sure i use KMS? I mean, since i don't use the "nokms" it should be on KMS right?
When i enable "show FPS" in games, it says that the internal fps is 60. but it still very slow and laggy.
Updated: I checked which drivers and settings i used for Retroarch in LE 8 remix, and I use the same drivers on this one. Only that it shows "59 HZ" instead of 30 hz when I have KMS enabled..
