Possible to install Chrome instead of Chromium?

So, Im basically just wondering if it's possible to replace Chromium with Chrome, and if anyone would know how? I tried downloading the Linux installers, but could find no way to actually run them.

This might seem like a pointless change, but I find that Chromium often has web pages crash that otherwise work fine in Chrome on my other systems. Particularly, the new Youtube software is proving problematic. Since the latest changes, all videos just crash as soon as you open them, and you can't change back to the old Youtube layout because the options page also crashes before you can save your preference.

I really don't want to have to change to another OS, I really like LibreElec, and would prefer to continue using it. But if I can't even access Youtube decently, it looses considerable functionality for me.

You can run Chrome in a Docker container, but that's the only option. It won't run natively because Chrome is released in pre-compiled binary packages that are not compatible with our OS; hence we compile our Chromium add-on from sources.

I've made adjustments to natively run Chrome in my community build. As mentioned, it's also possible to run it (and anything else) in Docker.

I'm gonna give your build a try. I certainly like a lot of the features you list, and the machine Im installing on is just an old laptop with no meaningful data on it, so I can wipe it out and reinstall without worry. Thanks!
