If I enable "intro video" in kodi my LE box freezes on startup and I have to do a hard reset to recover. Perhaps this is a known issue but I couldn't find any discussion in my forum searchs.

No official LE images support intro videos, so what image are you running?
-
I figured that was probably the case. I'm using whatever the official image is that LE hosts.

So how do you enable intro videos?

run "cat /storage/.kodi/temp/kodi.old.log | paste" and share the URL please .. if the video in the skin is playable by Kodi it should play.

Here's the debug log-

Just from watching the screen it looks like the intro video plays completely and then kodi freezes when trying to exit the player. Screen is frozen on what looks like the last frame of the video.

It wouldn't be the first time that a 3rd party skin has a bug and causes problems in Kodi.
Any problems with using LibreELEC when the default skin Estuary is selected?

I admit I'm not very familiar with Estuary, but I went through the skin settings and don't see any option to enable/disable intro videos. Where is this setting?

It's a skin-specific setting. It is not present in Estuary.
