RPi3 safe overclock for LibreELEC?

Never overclocked an RPi before but the general consensus seems that there is a fair bit of room for performance gains. How can you overclock via LE 7.0.2 from a noobs perspective? What is the method? Thank you.

The quickest & simplest way is still by editing the config.txt file via SSH. There used to be an addon for it, but I have no idea if it is still around, and if RPI 2/3 compatible.

IMO, concerning the performance gains, part of them are more about a generic assumption that 'things' run faster. For standard Kodi usage, overclocking will only get you fractional speed enhancements. An RPi is not similar to a PC, which has much more overclock potential.

I think you're understating this a bit.

Overclocking my pi3 from 1200mhz to 1450mhz has been the difference between stuttering and smooth 1080p h265 playback.

There's a lot of variation in how far you can overclock a Pi3, I've got one that can operate at 1450mhz with no problems and another that I can't get past 1330. Start with small steps

Really? I've tested many Pi3's and not found one that's reliable at 1500MHz.
I've got one that's *almost* reliable at 1450MHz, but I have backed off a little as I got very occasional crashes.

You might want to confirm with "vcgencmd measure_clock arm" as I think there may be a hard limit of 1500MHz from the arm's clock.

Is there an addon that you can configure an overclock via / change the config.txt? A bit like you can do in OSMC?
