Got a IR remote i want to get going on my 905X, is there any guide on how to map the buttons and create a custom remote.conf ?

Not really, no.
That will give you a gen.xml in userdata/keymaps.
remote.conf performs a different function and sits in storage/.configgen.xml will map a known key input to a kodi command.

Are you running libreelec?What exactly do you need to do with this remote?Did you look at a Flirc Usb?are you using the box's remote?
