Device recommendation, please

  • What's the ideal box to get to run LibreElec? "Ideal" to me means

    - no fan noise
    - somewhat future proof (2-3 years would be great)
    - Just for Kodi, but need a few ad-ons (boot right into Kodi, and OS and Kodi self update)
    - gig ethernet
    - fast enough for HDHomeRun decoding, 1080p ripped BluRays, 7.1 pass-thru, maybe even 4K content once it becomes commonly available as downloads through certain backchannels ways of acquiring content.
    - Price: under $300

I would prefer easy, if possible, but I can hack up a chrome box if I have to.

    Thanks,

    Allan

    Yeah, right...

Start with an Odroid C2 for now. It should satisfy most of your needs.
Or an Asrock Apollo Lake motherboard J3455/J4205, used with a pico PSU and SSD, if you are more into Intel stuff.

Thanks. So you'd go with the Odroid C2 over a wetek?

I just get the board (and PSU), a case, and an eMMC module?
