Kshi: Interesting, it seems it's another manufacturer indeed.
usb-devices: LFPA
ls-usb -v: SOQX
I got it from ebay (cheapest I could find), I guess they all look the same: 2.4GHz Wireless Fly Air Mouse Keyboard Remote For Android PC Smart TV Box MX3 M8
PS: I have tested all the important buttons and everything seems to work for me.
I'm wondering if it's normal that the "back" button doesn't work when the air mouse is enabled, but I can live with that.

Is there anything can we compare between the working 7.0.3 (16.1) setup, and this beta, to try and diagnose what's different/missing?
Can you not use Keymap Editor to map the back button, if the rest of your remote is working already?
Kodi (7.95.2) doesn't even recognise my buttons are being pressed.

The back button works as long as the air mouse is disabled, unsure if this is by design then.
Any other button seems to work (I didn't try the numbers or the Internet explorer button nor the buttons at top Play/Pause/skip track etc).
I'm doing this at night and to watch a movie I didn't need them but tbh I didn't notice the play/pause one, it's on my list to try it
Why is it just me who's remote doesn't work at all? 😀
It's all gone sadly quiet.
It works in Kodi 16, what can I do to compare configuration with the beta/17? Anything?
I'm sorry but I'm too new to Kodi to help

No sweat mate, just thought this forum would have experts galore.

Sorry I was working away from home. I'm still trying to find a solution...(whether that actually accomplishes anything remains to be seen...) From everything I can see, the driver information is exactly the same in LE 7.0.3 and LE 7.90+. It's very confusing that the remote works in one but not the other.

Hi Kshi, someone I worked with suggested to check dmesg on both and check any differences. Presume that's what you just did?

Correct. That and verbose output from lsusb.

Oh.....then we are in the laps of the experts, wherever they are hinding?
I tested my MX3 in Libreelec 7.95.2 and 7.95.3 and it didn't work for me (only airmouse and ok button works). Like others, Mx3 works correctly in kodi 16.0. I hope a solution for this thread.

Mine is Pi3 too, I think we all are on this thread.
After a half day of frustration and searching, I finally found the problem. It is being detected as a Joystick rather than a keyboard and the input is ignored. Here's the fix:
Make a file under /storage/.config/udev.rules.d/
named "51-these-are-not-joysticks-rm.rules"
contents of file:
SUBSYSTEM=="input", ATTRS{idVendor}=="1d57", ATTRS{idProduct}=="ad03", ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}=="?*", ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}=""
SUBSYSTEM=="input", ATTRS{idVendor}=="1d57", ATTRS{idProduct}=="ad03", KERNEL=="js[0-9]*", MODE="0000", ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}=""
