Makes sense now thanks!

vpeter I can't see it with the current kernel config or maybe I'm doing something wrong:
I'm simply running make menuconfig like this: linux-6d8fbb4ee61a7779ac57b5961e076f0c63ff8b65$ PROJECT=Amlogic DEVICE=S905 ARCH=arm make menuconfig

I have not found yet the time to bring a 4.19 to a boot on my S912 devices. When I tried the 4.18 Ethernet was just down. Can you give a shot with CoreELEC? There are people there confirming that they solved the issue
I don't have a S912 device yet, I'm afraid. I was just considering to buy it and checking if it was working.
-
I'm wondering if there still this problem as I'm considering buying a secondary box. Have someone tried it with the latest version of Armbian? Menion have you checked out if there is still the issue with kernel 4.19?
-
You could enable IP: Foo (IP protocols) over UDP and you will get NET_UDP_TUNNEL too.
I will check again, but in the kernel config I didn't spot that either.
-
I'm exploring wireguard too while looking into improving crypto speeds, but I can't see in the Amlogic kernel configuration (make menuconfig) the option CONFIG_NET_UDP_TUNNEL which is a requirement (Installation - WireGuard). All the other kernel requirements are satisfied.

Would be possible to update the title and first page to reflect the current versions available? Thanks

Got it, thanks again

Thanks both, I didn't believe it was a problem just to add the module (without loading it by default). I'll do some experiments.

Hi all,
It's a bit I didn't post but I have been busy moving house. I'm doing some tests with my 905X box with Openvpn and I'm wondering if it would be possible to have the cryptodev kernel module included in the next releases.
This has been briefly discussed in this topic VPN help and the module may not work well with the current kernel (reference: Gentoo Forums :: View topic - Gentoo for Amlogic S9xx (TV box S905\S905X\S912)), but I would be happy to experiment more. Thanks!

rastobil, thanks for the answer. I think I got my answer, in the sense of that I have upgraded to 8.2.4.2 but I may have not realised that the TV was seeing HDR content even before (no need to force anything via the echo command or from the menu).
I have a Samsung QE65Q6F (not the new N), a Yamaha RX-A3070 and all the cables are at least HDMI 2.0. I have Matrix or John Wick in 4K HDR and both are reporting well on TV (HDR and UHD).
If I try to force '444,10bit', I'm getting a black screen, unsure why.
As far as I know, the panel is 10bit capable.

it's a bit I don't follow the forum but I have been busy with work and moving houses
I have got myself a new Samsung QLED tv and I'm trying to understand how and if I can get HDR working.
My 905x box (Zenbox) is connected to my Yamaha AVR, CEC is enabled everywhere and I'm able to use a 4k resolution in the UI (but I'm keeping it at 1080p as it's faster).
However, if I do: echo '444,10bit' > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/attr, the screen will become black and eventually the TV will show no signal.Question: Should I keep the UI at 4k in order to run the echo command? Am I missing something else? I have tried to read most of the threads here but I'm still confused
Cheers!

That's a great guide! It's also a good method to backup the Kodi data in the eventuality the SD is going to fail!
As frequenzy mentioned, we should put an extra step on unmounting all the network shares before start the copy and the final step to reboot, so that you can test this.
I guess to revert back the change is just to revert back the labels to the original state?
Thanks kszaq!

Thanks kszaq for the great work
I'm using a KM5 branded S905X box, everything works perfectly other than there is no WiFi.
The WiFi chip is SCL S9082C, does this have the same problem of no firmware support form the vendor as the S9082XS chip?
I think I already know the answer.
As a Chinese speaker, if there's any way I can help in contacting with the vendor then I'll be more than happy.
Thanks,
In the first page it says: 9082xs not supported. Unsure 'C' or 'S' makes any difference but I suspect it's a no

I didn't play with keymap editor yet, but the seeking buttons don't work for me
Play/Pause seems to work now.
I'll continue to dig in. -

I was wondering if anybody can provide a sample of remote.conf configuration for the "generic" MX3 remote control:
I didn't spend too much time customizing it, very interested in getting the play/pause and seeking buttons to work
Thank you! -
Thanks for the responses chaps. It must be something my end then, as I have x 3 Nexbox A95x S905X boxes and all 3 freeze when trying 4k movies. Yet if reinstall SPMC on android they play 4k perfect. Weird. If you're using NFS, I would recommend to try to mount NFS at the OS level (Mounting network shares - OpenELEC).
Without changing anything and using the same NFS server, I get sluggish performance using the native NFS implementation in Kodi while it works perfectly if I use the same server at the OS level.Something similar: NFS (libnfs) Performance
