no new tv content adding

  • hi guys,

    everything set up good I've been using xbmc since the original xbox days, however I just set it up on a Pi 3 and all good except no new tv shows are added. It scans but finds nothing new at all, and just sticks with what was in there. I've deleted the tv section and re-added it via Files but exact same thing. It only adds the two tv shows that were in that folder originally and nothing else.

    does anyone know a quick fix to fix this? driving me up the wall, not to mention constantly getting "cannot connect to database" errors when trying to update the tvdb stuff


  • please provide a full debuglog while trying to add TV-Shows to your library.

    I'd look into naming your media better using a service like sickbeard or sickgear.

    A simple batch renaming tool will work wonders too.

    A folder like 'Dexter.Complete.S01-S02-S03-S04-S05-S06-S07-S08.720p.BluRay.DD5.1.x264-ITSat', does it contain ALL episodes of Dexter in the same folder?

    Also, what is (for example) the exact full filename of one of those Dexter episodes?

    Try to follow Kodi's TV folder and episode naming as described in Kodi's Wiki.

    renaming doesnt do shit, I used sickbeard and filebot to rename them doesnt make a lick of difference. it doesnt pick ANY new tv files up at all regardless of how its named. as I said, /movies/ off the same drive works perfectly fine. /tv/ does not.

    here's another log - it doesnt even look to me like its bothering to scan the tv folder but who knows hDhd - I even used sickbeard and pushed the update to libreelec to say that i had the show and its ok, but not a fucking thing GRji

    done that already, doesnt do fuck all. As I said, I've been using xbmc for ~10 years, never had a problem. This time on the PI (and I've supplied all the logs above) and TV just does not wanna add no matter what. I've deleted the source and re-added a million times, I've renamed all the folders and files with filebot, sickbeard and whatever else I could find, no change. I'm just using the default scraper set to content: TV and tvdb which annoying as it is, gives 422 errors every now and then... and it DID work for the first time when there was just one tv show in there and now that is all it can find despite there being a huge catalog of titles now on that drive and in that folder.

    I added two shows to test it originally when I set up LibreELEC, Game of Thrones and some other tv show and they scanned and were added completely fine.

    I moved some other shows, it does not pick them up at all. I moved even more, nothing. I've renamed, replaced, re-organised them, nothing. I add movies, they work fine. I change movies, rename movies, all works okay.

    I delete tv source, re-add it, it picks up the original two shows and nothing else. Even after re-scanning nothing. Always just shows the original two shows that were scanned and added and nothing more. I can change my install to OSMC and it works fine with the same sources.

  • Your logs are incomplete. Actually, they are just full of a bunch of extraneous info that doesn't need to be there. Turn off/disable your library auto updates in movies and tv. Disable "Component Specific Logging". Manually trigger a library update. Then post a debug log.

    I moved all my tv shit out and cleared the database, then moved it back and hit update library it only updates /movies/ but ignores /tv/ completely. I delete it and re-add it and it ignores it, completely

    I can install OE and OSMC on my Pi and it finds it all straight away - same settings. I put LibreELEC back on and same thing, it just will not find any new tv files or episodes and the logs dont even show it looking there anymore.
