[NXP] Videos play with jumps

Quote from perpis

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

iMX6 support in LE is in a semi-abandoned state. Our assumption is that there are enough commercial users of iMX6 chips for media support to be maintained upstream without us needing to do anything. That assumption might be wrong and some testing might be needed; although the challenge will be finding anyone with time and hardware to do it.

I so have a Cubox-i in a cupboard somewhere (it last saw daylight around 2022) but I'm submerged in other things at the moment and can't promise I'll be able to dig it out any time soon.

NB: it would be interesting to see the "pastekodi" output after demonstrating the problem with Kodi in debug mode. Share the URL and we can maybe see more about what's going on.

Thanks for the log. The VPU is detected fine (coda960, firmware 3.1.1), but Kodi falls back to software decoding because the ffmpeg patches that expose the V4L2 hardware decoder to Kodi were dropped https://github.com/LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv/commit/35ad538333 when LE13 moved to FFmpeg 9 (they need reworking for API changes). I suspect 1080p H.264 in software is too much for the iMX6, hence the jumps.

Try https://test.libreelec.tv/13.0/NXP/cubox…80-cubox.img.gz - I think it will work, and https://test.libreelec.tv/13.0/NXP/cubox…66-cubox.img.gz will stutter, if my assumptions are correct.

perpis i have compiled an image with a ffmpeg patch. Please test https://heitbaum.libreelec.tv/LibreELEC-iMX6…2a-cubox.img.gz
