There's a 10 fps difference in one of the games so how could you say it's unaffected? I'm not excluding that I will include it in future builds, just I've left it disabled for now.

Thanks for the contribution but it does not make me your slave either. Divided by the hours I've spent on this there are child labor workers in India getting paid more. I can't see that I've looked down on anyone but I do feel you are trying to boss me around into doing what you like. Compiling yourself is a matter of cloning the git and running "make". You could use my escalade1/arch-build Docker container which is what I build in.

Well to be honest I'm just a mechanical engineer so not much into software development but it's not that hard to set up a VM and debian server for compiling purposes so I'm gonna do it.

I don't know if you ever heard about the so called low base effect but it's pretty the same. Still you achieve 126,6fps and thats roughly 10% less but still more than most screens can handle. But in Witcher 3 on ultra settings. Even if there would be a drop of 10% on dolphin I would switch to NTSC & 50Hz and I'm fine.

If you feel bossed around by someone asking if its possible or makes a suggestion then I'm not sure if you should publish such a custom distribution at all. I'm (we're) not demanding, claiming or command you to do something we just ask for usefull features. And hell yes since a browser is included and most of us use third party add-ons it would be usefull to activate the patches. I'm fine anyway since my skylake board got it's microcode patches, my rpi's are not affected and my apollo lake htpc does not use the browser but others do and are screwed if they check out the wrong page.

I've chosen not to enable RETPOLINE and KPTI as it supposedly can slow down the computer and I'm not sure how paranoid one should be for a mediacenter.

On a fresh Ubuntu 17.10 install, while trying to make generic x86_64 image I keep getting this error about a variable. I built vanilla 9.0 devel just fine as a test run on the same machine about 2 or 3 days ago. Any ideas? Thanks for all your work on this build again escalade.

This is due to a change in glibc 2.27, check out the revision before that commit.

what distribution do you use for compiling purposes? LE suggests ubuntu 16.04.xx LTS and I'm currently using debian 9.

I'm using Arch, you can pull my escalade1/arch-build Docker container to get the same. LE 8.2 is actually on glibc 2.24. Just do a "git reset --hard cfd99b4485226a8c0e77c092373221445f82aa9b" to get the same version built for last generic release.

your latest image 20180202 is rather big and wont fit the normal system (FAT) partition, is it possible to shrink it (the image that is) or does this mean I have to either re-install from the latest image or try to resize the FAT-partition? (Tried on two different boxes with the same result)

Seems I forgot to increase the zstd compression level, I will need to rebuild again. Alternatively you can back up and do a new install (my image creates 1GB /flash by default) or resize it manually.

The avx2 build has been updated with glibc 2.27 and 4.15.1. I've also added a RETPOLINE/KPTI enabled build in the same dir. I'll probably do the same for the regular build. Will appreciate any Dolphin benchmarks if anyone have the time.

TL:DR you should activate KPTI and use kernel 4.15 since there is not really a noticeable performance impact while using dolphin.

I was testing the LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-8.2-devel-20180202.img version on old PC, and all work fine with 17" Monirtor HDMI, but when I was connect to 42" TV the MAME games go to slow, Did it is possible? maybe the resolution? how can I change?

Indeed, I can't notice any difference from my testing either so builds will have it enabled from now on. 4.15 will have to wait until I have time.

Define too slow? Sounds like perhaps you are experiencing input lag, see if there's a "game mode" on your TV. Hard to say as you have not provided any information about your setup or logs.

What about a newer dolphin version? Are there any special dependencies that prevent a recent build? Maybe this speeds up some games too.

I don't know if this is specific to this build and I can't find another thread about it, so I ask here. For some months now I have a frequent problem with wifi settings (in LibreELEC settings). I use static IP. Every couple of days I have had to re-enter the wifi IP settings because they seem to disappear. And sometimes the LibreELEC settings plugin crashes Kodi when I click Edit. Today I got tired of this and write protected the Connman settings files. Did anyone else have this problem?
