[x86-64] Wrong speed with "Sync Playback to Display"

  • Atm Kodi speeds up the Playback with "Sync Playback to Display".

MY better IDEA System would be:

    1. It decodes a "block" of RAW a/v to RAM (like cache).

    2. It speeds (pitches) up the RAW a/v ON THE FLY from 24p to 25p (like you would do by hand with a audio/video editor).

    3. Finally the pre-processed video "block" is handed over to kodis playback engine, where it just playbacks a clean 25p block without all the problems, the overcomplicated "Sync Playback to Display" engine causes.

So it plays the 24p video at 25p block by block.

PLS, HEAD DEVS OF LIBREELEC/KODI. THINK ABOUT MY IDEA!!!

    :P

  • PLS, HEAD DEVS OF LIBREELEC/KODI. THINK ABOUT MY IDEA!!!

Your idea requires all media to be adapted to a different refresh rate. This requires excessive CPU resources. The idea also breaks the concept of a zero-copy video pipeline which something that Kodi has long-worked to implement because it's the most efficient way to process high-bitrate and large filesize media. In short; the idea is a load of hooey and dead in the water :)

  • There are DJ and VJ Tools which pitches Audio and video without nearly any CPU usage.

All of this is done before anything is handed over to the output.

And they dont have pitch fluctuations and other kodi styled problems.

Also kodi dont need "sync playback to display" it just needs a pitch stable PAL speedup.

Get your fav tv show and then pitch it down by 4,xx% then u know how sleepy, boring it sounds watching a 24p tv show with german synchro, where the synchro was done for 25p.

    e.g. Lost
