[RPi4] No Audio on LE 11 and LE 12

  • Running "getedid create" to capture the EDID data to file will achieve nothing on a system that cannot see the EDID data on the HDMI connection in the first place. You capture <null> to file and force the system to see <null> on every boot.

It's unclear what the issue here is, but given the general lack of user reports about RPi4 boards not seeing EDID, it's unlikely to be a software issue and more likely to be hardware or something specific to this user. Note that RPiOS and LE essentially share the same boot firmware and kernel.

  • It's not a LibreELEC issue because the bootloader diagnostic shows "EDID=none". That is a hardware issue.

    It is either:

    the hdmi display.

the hdmi cable (or adaptor if using one for full size to micro-hdmi)

    the hdmi socket on pi

All tests should be done with no sdcard and using bootloader diagnostic display:

Try with other socket on pi. If hdmi1 also reports EDID=none then it's not the pi socket

Try connecting to another hdmi display. If you still get EDID=none then it's not the display but the cable.

If another display works then your display is not correctly reporting an edid.

If there's another hdmi socket, then try that. Otherwise report issue to you display manufacturer.

  • My theory is that he did the LE setup on a PC monitor. Then he went to the Panasonic TV with wrong EDID. Due to a hardware issue (HDMI cable) the EDID update failed.

  • Da Flex No, I prepare sd card using libreelec software, put sd card do rpi which was connected to PANASONIC (not samsung) TV.

Now I connected RPI to ASUS MONITOR (not TV) using the same HDMI cable like before connected to TV. And the same cable then I connected fresh RPI OS to TV. The tvservice returned me EDID information.

And as You can see mglae RPI connected to ASYS monitor (not tv) also not receiving EDID info.

And this is pastekodi from before connections (RPI + ASUS)

I'm waiting for new 3 cable - I bought from 3 brand company to check it again - as you wrote guys.

I checked on two others rpi4b boards, and i have the same situation ;/ I'm confused because on LE 10 everything was working fine...

You should think about if your issue it's LE related, why nobody else don't reported it. So as many others (me too) are able to use LE with RPi4, without EDID issue, with your hardware it's wrong something. What you should do isn't a "rocket science", just do what "popcornmix" wrote, without any SDcard, just connect the RPi to display and check if the EDID detected or not:

All tests should be done with no sdcard and using bootloader diagnostic display:

Try with other socket on pi. If hdmi1 also reports EDID=none then it's not the pi socket

Try connecting to another hdmi display. If you still get EDID=none then it's not the display but the cable.

If another display works then your display is not correctly reporting an edid.

If there's another hdmi socket, then try that. Otherwise report issue to you display manufacturer.

  • Dear The BEST LE Support Team.

I bought hdmi adapter from RPI and start working :)

But its working only for new LE 13.0 installation.
On upgraded instalation from 10.0 to 12.0 video is working fine but sound still not available.

Otherwise, new LE 13 is working with adapters from RPI.

Thank You so much guys again for professional advises, sometimes cynic advices.
