Subtitle Setup for a Specific Language

  • Hello

I'm having a problem with subtitles. Forced subtitles aren't being accepted; it always chooses full subtitles, and I have to manually change them each time.

If I only choose forced in the settings, it won't choose full subtitles for videos with original language (VOST).

I didn't have this problem before.

    Any ideas ?

  • Well it appeared after an update. I'm using the nightly versions.

If the update means Kodi doesn't run there's a packaging/distro issue and it's an LE problem. If Kodi runs but the updated pre-release version of Kodi now has a specific feature regression, that's a Kodi problem, and Kodi feature problems are best reported to the Kodi developers who hang out in the Kodi forum. If it's reported here, it's unlikely anyone responsible sees it.

  • Apologies as i missed the main point of your issue.

If you are setting your subtitles to show forced subtitles only and that is not working it's either subtitles are named incorrectly or it's a Kodi issue..

    go to kodi settings

player - language - prefered subtitle language -set to forced only

player - subtitles - language to download subtitles for -english

that should do it..i just tested a movie with forced subs and forced subs got enabled first time.

setting only let you do 1 thing but when there is no forced subtitle available it will show your chosen language full subtitle...

  • I use the subtitles contained in the videos, that's enough.

I've never had a problem, I didn't need to choose the forced subtitles in the settings.

I also watch videos in the original “manga” language

so if I choose forced, it won't read the full subtitles.

today, he still chooses full subtitles, even though the forced are present.

As I told you before if you don t set kodi to choose forced subtitles it won't.The setting is there to be used otherwise you will get the default normal english or whatever language you chose subtitle..Forced is not the default...original language is default.

So if you watch a movie in manga language you will get the manga subtitle by default if you don t set the subtitle language to english.

yes I know, but if I choose that it won't put the normal subtitles if I'm watching a manga for example.

I've never had this problem before. It chooses the right subtitles depending on what I'm watching, VF or VO.
