[x86-64] Where is the HDD?

  • Hello everyone!

    My English is weak, sorry!

I recently put together a PC, Asus B550 TUF Gaming Plus Wifi, Ryzen 5 4600G and 128 GB M.2 NVME and a 2 TB WD HDD.
The M.2 SSD has Win 11 Pro, and the HDD only has movies.

LibreElec runs from an 8 GB flash drive. I tried other flash drives.

There is a startup where the 2 TB HDD does not appear, then after one restart it appears again!
If I start Win at this time, the HDD is immediately there.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

  • Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link
  • Check your HDD for errors.

  • I replaced the HDD, now after 10 reboots the HDD is still there.

(I put the faulty HDD into a Windows-based machine and it is strange that neither HD Sentinel nor Windows marks it as faulty.)

Thanks again for your help!

Make sure your firmware is up-to-date. Since you also have Windows installed, it should be easy to update all drivers.

  • Thank you for your help!

All firmware is up to date.
I regret not being able to use LE as it would have been easier than Win 11.
    Stay with Win 11. :(

    Thanks again!

  • The preferred file system for your HDD is EXT4 on LE / Linux. Unfortunately Windows can't read it.

So if you also need Windows access, format the HDD as exFAT.

Try one of those file systems, and hopefully the HDD will be detected every time.

  • exFAT isnt working that much better, takes a lot of time to redo all the storage, just keep your files on a Windows pc and share with another device like a Pi4/5 via smb.
