New Install, can't adjust display size on TV screen

  • Just got a fresh install on a Pi 4B and am having a lot of problems setting things up. I did work (most of it) out years ago with the original box I built but it failed recently so I had to start from scratch. I don't remember how to get a lot of the stuff working unfortunately.

A couple of problems so far.
    1. I used to be able to adjust the width of the display on the TV screen so that the edge of the menu's, etc, all lined up nicely with the edges of the TV screen but that option seems to have disappeared in this latest version of LE. Is there some add-on I need to install?

    2. How do I get the TV channels working? I've had a look at a few wiki's & sites and they are all only just slightly better than useless. I've got the TV headend service/whateveritis installed on LE and as best I can tell I have to go to 192.168.1.189:9981 to access its interface. But when I do that all I get is 'site can't be reached'.

  • It's called 'Calibration' and it still exists. You might need to enable advanced or export mode in Kodi settings (can't remember as it's been a few years since I used it). Remember that you need to calibrate each resolution/refresh combo that you will use, it doesn't auto-apply the same change to all.

Do you have a TV card? .. system logs will show tvheadend state and any errors. Look there (or share them with the build-in paste function).

You really should try to solve this at the TV end. There's almost certainly a menu option to output 1:1, and the quality will be better (rather than resizing the image *twice*).

  • Ta, Chewitt, I had the menu's in advanced mode but still nothing, then I found the expert mode and the extra calibration settings were available.
Still trying to sort out TVheadend.
