I was testing our home backup power system today and noticed my shiny new PI5 had turned itself on. The pi was resting in my TV cabinet with the power off (Red LED) lit and it seems when external power disconnected then restored it defaults to "ON" even if it is "OFF". [Place a head scratch here]. Is there some setting to choose the default power on state? Not a big deal in any case just curious.

Normal behavior after electricity outage. It's the same on my RPi3B+. It needs additional electronics to solve this. I guess you can buy a ready-to-go solution somewhere, because RPi is so popular.

Humm. Never noticed that on RPi3 or 4 for that matter but I use an inline power switches on those so makes sense. Just seems a bit backward to turn the Pi switch off and it doesn't stay off.

IIRC the default behaviour can be changed in RPi5 firmware but it's best to search for info on the Raspberry Pi website/docs.
