Thx. There are a couple of cache settings for network access. I think it's worth to play with them (see post #8).

Yes those are for playback I have zero issues with it if I add it as source.
The issue is kodi wont let you browse NFS shares. It does not even list shares on my local network in browser.
NFS library must be broken in RPi as it worked in NUC.

last time I checked server it was exporting v4 but will take a look
either way my NUC works fine so its deffo a RPi issue

No, read this thread. Switching to NFS4 makes a difference:
ThreadVideo suddenly freezes, buffers and then crashes
Hello everyone,
Unfortunately, I have been having sporadic problems playing videos for a few months now.
During playback, the playback suddenly freezes. Kodi briefly shows buffering, but it stops and does not continue. Picture and sound are frozen and after a short time the playback is stopped and you end up back in the selection menu of the movies/series you were watching.
It doesn't matter whether the content is SD, HD or 4k.
Sometimes it runs flawlessly for hours until the error mentioned above…HundusterJanuary 7, 2024 at 10:43 AM -

I have zero playback issues.
I watched a 30mb a sec bitrate file over weekend and zero issues. The user there is having different issues. Mine is just about using the browser in Kodi UI not about media playback.

That wasn't a question, just a point for better stability on NFS4.

yes my server just checked sets nfs version to best suitable for client so looks like kodi is choosing v3
if I mount my linux laptop it can mount as v4
