I tried with MiniMX, Gb LAN, fast NAS. Latest 3.October 2016 dev firmware
With big (30GB/2hour) movies I don't have problem, movie start caching vq70%, slow reduce to 50%, but stay there, and no problem with playing.
Smaller files (for example 9GB/2hour) start the playing at vq70%, but reducing isn't stop at 50%, it continue to vq0%, and sometimes very small jam noticeable.
i try edit advancedsettings, but no luck

<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<readbufferfactor>8.0</readbufferfactor>

Ah! Cache management... Having the same problem since day 1, posted here, also posted @ Alex forum (same problem with both builds). Several people responded "having this problem too", devs included some partial fixes at times (see whats changed in all releases), so, i take it its a well known issue with no fix yet.
What you describe becomes worse with even smaller videos ( tv show episodes ) and imho its a showstopper for 1G devices that are "heavily" used (lots of browse library videos / play start-stop ) -
Hi,
I see the same with my wetek hub. Will check the 100MBit MXQ later.

Can you guys give the new development build a spin and judge if it's any better? 2016-10-11-devel

If it's stuck there you probably don't have a proper device tree. Do you run from SD card or internal?
[hr]
I think I know the reason - dtb always updates to "standard" one for 1Gigabit devices. I will fix that today evening.

Meanwhile if you boot from SD card, replace dtb.img manually using your computer. -

Then copy new image file to update folder, and restart.
I used
gxbb_p200_1G_1Gbit.dtb
Tree file on my mini mx 1/8GB

I wait with stucked bear screen after update 10 min long, the pull out power cord, and pull back, and voila, booted.
This above I don't understand, but now working.I tested with 3-4 files, seems working good, the VQ always between 90-100%. I tried big, average, and small files too..
Perfect, thanks!
What was the problem?

And I noticed also very fast chapter switch, and seeking.

I made restart, then stuck again at logo..
I make again power disconnect, and boot again.
Something is wrong with this build.

I copy back original dtb from 10-03 build, and restart, stuck bear..
Made power off/on , then boot.
I copy 10-03 build to update folder, restart-stuck-power off/on-boot, update.
With 10-03 build working restart again. -
I used to have a MiniMX but it blew down, I can't test on the same device.
On the other hand, this devel build boots just fine on my WeTel Hub.

And restart work at you?

And restart work at you?
Yes, reboot and reboot to nand works fine.

Just to add my experience...
Stuck this on a Beelink Minimxiii last night.
It installed / ran fine. Tried a reboot, froze at the bear screen.
Pulled the power and again froze at the bear screen. Repeated a few times, same.
Unplugged my external hard drive and it cold-booted fine.
Rebooted without external HDD and no problem.
Tried again a few times with and without external drive connected - rebooted fine.
A bit odd (not seen that freezing previously) but it's not repeatable (so far).Edit: same behaviour today.

Be aware the advancedsettings.xml options for caching have changed name in Kodi 17: HOW-TO:Modify the video cache - Official Kodi Wiki
If you don't update your advancedsettings.xml when switching to Kodi 17 you wont have any non-default caching options.
