Gui Sound not working

  • Hello!

I've updated yesterday from latest stable OpenELEC to LibreELEC 7.02 on an Intel Nuc.
The upgrade was really easy by following the WIKI documentation and i had no big issues.
The only thing i had to adjust after the upgrade was the audio setting by activating the passthrough option of KODI to get Audio working on my Samsung TV connected via HDMI.
With that option activated audio was working for movies.
The only thing what is still not working is GUI Sound. I tried already to change to another GUI Sound or disabling/enabeling it but i still do not get any sound from the GUI itself.
I use the AON Skin but the problem persists if i change the skin.

    thx

  • Unfortunately it didnt help, i renamed the file as suggested, video sound is working but menu sound not via HDMI.
But during testing i noticed that if i switch form HDMI to Headphone jack both (video and menu sound) is working.
So its related to audio via HDMI.

    Any ideas?

    thx
    Michael

  • Here are the screenshots.
    Since i reset the

    Code
    guisettings.xml

i dont need the passthrough active for video sound but it has no effect to the menu sound.
And as i wrote as soon as i use headphone connected to the intel nuc and set the audio output device to PCH bot Video and Menu sound is working.
Here is the sound related part of the

    Code
    guisettings.xml

    - <audiooutput> <ac3passthrough>false</ac3passthrough> <ac3transcode default="true">false</ac3transcode> <audiodevice default="true">ALSA:hdmi:CARD=HDMI,DEV=0</audiodevice> <channels default="true">1</channels> <config default="true">2</config> <dspaddonsenabled default="true">false</dspaddonsenabled> <dtshdpassthrough default="true">false</dtshdpassthrough> <dtspassthrough default="true">false</dtspassthrough> <eac3passthrough default="true">false</eac3passthrough> <guisoundmode default="true">1</guisoundmode> <maintainoriginalvolume default="true">true</maintainoriginalvolume> <passthrough default="true">false</passthrough> <passthroughdevice default="true">ALSA:hdmi:CARD=HDMI,DEV=0</passthroughdevice> <processquality default="true">30</processquality> <samplerate default="true">48000</samplerate> <stereoupmix default="true">false</stereoupmix> <streamsilence>5</streamsilence> <supportdtshdcpudecoding default="true">false</supportdtshdcpudecoding> <truehdpassthrough default="true">false</truehdpassthrough> </audiooutput>

    thx

    [hr]
    Found something.
As soon as i set the "Output configuration" within "Audio output" from optimized to fixed it works.
When i then change the limit sampling rate to 44.1 the menu sound disappear again, but the other setting (48, 88.1, 96 and 192) are working.
Any Idea what cause that behavior? Or is it just normal? And why it just affects the HDMI audio transfer and not the PCH?

    thx
    Michael

  • Which Samsung TV is it? I heard of those issues in relation to AVRs and IIRC there's nothing we can do for you. In relation to AVRs it was some Intel -> AVR manufactor bug.

But, tbh, it's the first time I hear about it that it's also caused by a TV directly with no AVR in between.

  • Thanks for your help, its working now with the new setting/workaround and the TV is anyway on the list for replacement. Its an old Samsung B650 btw.

    Regards
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

I also have an Intel NUC D34010WYK and new-ish Samsung TV. Your fix worked for me too.

However, I just upgraded to the latest ALPHA version of LibreElec and my original sound settings work, so no need for the fix once you have the latest version.

    Cheers,

    Pete
