LE 8.9 / TVH 4.3 (nightly) + DVBSKY S960 = POLL TIMEOUT

Hi!

I updated to LE 8.9 a couple of days ago. Today I noticed that Tvheadend is not working properly anymore, putting out error:

I then uninstalled the Tvheadend service and reinstalled the latest nightly build. I can access the webinterface and TVH 4.3 seems to be working fine, but I still have that issue.

The adapter is a DVBSKY S960 (info here: https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/dvbsky_s960).

Libreelec 8.90.006 on RPi3.

Is there a conflict or missing drivers in the new versions or do I need to check cabling? I have not changed anything to the physical setup, just updated LE.

//EDIT: I have since seen here that the S960 device may not be compatible with LE 8.9. I will later today try reverting to 8.2 via Kodi hoping it will work again. Will report back here.

As it turns out, LE 8.9 / the new Kernel seems not to be compatible with the S960 device. I have returned to 8.2.5 and got it working again.

There is a buggy commit in dvbsky.c driver in kernel 4.18. It should be reverted to make DVBSky devices work again.

"This patch causes a bad effect on RPi. I suspect that the root cause is at the USB out of tree RPi driver, with uses high priority interrupts instead of normal ones. Anyway, as this patch is mostly a cleanup, better to revert it."

Actually, it broke it for all platforms including x86,

I have a Geniatech mdstar (v3) and the bug is present before the 4.18 kernel, with all libreelec 9.0 builds.

Only crazycat drivers and LE 8.2.5 work.

V4l-Updatelee drivers from Chris Lee / v4l-updatelee · GitLab work too.

By the way, there's a chance to add these drivers to Libreelec 9.0? They seem by far the best and most stable dvb drivers for Linux.
