LibreELEC 8.2.4 causes Slice 3 to hang

Wow, you beat my query on the topic by 4 minutes, I had the same result but in my case the boot totally fails. I had to flash the previous 8.2.3 and disable auto updates before allowing it to go on-line (otherwise it would automatically upgrade on the next boot to 8.2.4 and then break again)...

Jup. Same here. Wanted to upgrade from CM1 to CM3. With the newest build. Wasted a whole night because of that.

8.2.3 just works fine!

On rPi Zero W the 8.2.4 is freezing after a random time... I left it there for 15 mins and when I came back, the screen was dimmed down (energy saving) and the whole system was unresponsive. No mouse, no keyboard. The app didn't find it as well. I tried it 4-5 times and the result is the same.

If anyone affected by 8.2.4 issues is overclocking, can they re-test 8.2.4 without overclocks and confirm if there is any change.

Also, installing 8.2.4 firmware after downgrading to 8.2.3 would be another useful test - if the resulting "hybrid" 8.2.3/8.2.4 installation has the same problems as 8.2.4 then we know it's a problem with the new 8.2.4 firmware. First, downgrade to 8.2.3 and confirm all is back to normal. Then, install the contents of 8.2.4 firmware (zip) in the root partition (overwriting the files of the same name) and re-test and confirm if there is any change. This firmware is suitable for both RPi0W and CM3. To restore your original 8.2.3 firmware, use 8.2.3 firmware (zip)

Obviously we want to get to the bottom of this issue and the first step is eliminating variables such as overclocking, then firmware. Fortunately there isn't an awful lot else changed in 8.2.4.

Also for those that are not booting - are there any LED blink patterns?

MikeBuzz can you try firmware from March 5th:

start_x.elf?raw=true

fixup_x.dat?raw=true

Start with a working 8.2.3 image and download the two files. Rename to start.elf / fixup.dat and replace your current ones.

That is the newest firmware that predates the frequency/voltage/temp rework so should narrow the problem down.

Hi, finally got some to time check with 8.2.4 firmware and yes, the boot failed the first time with new firmware. It gives on screen

Just to mention, I have CM3 in the Slice currently. Reverting back to 8.2.3 firmware works like charm.

It reverts a change to the EMMC clock which could be to blame.

Extract start_x.elf/fixup_x.dat, rename to http://start.elf/fixup.dat and replace the existing ones on slice.

MikeBuzz Can you test this firmware? Latest firmware with emmc clock change just reverted for external emmc platforms.

I don't seem to have any problems with 8.2.4 but i have already turned off the RSS feed is yours switched on?
