Herman, why don´t You run LE from SD card ?
So much trouble, for what ?
Only to use the SD card slot as a HDD ?

Tim_Taylor,
As I wrote in my first post
I use use the card slot (the only one) so I can play media from the card.
But this is not possible if LE is installed on the card
Greetings Herman
I use use the card slot (the only one) so I can play media from the card.
But this is not possible if LE is installed on the card
It´s possible to play media from the card if LE is installed on sd card
It´s possible to play media from usb stick
It´s possible to play media from usb hdd
It´s possible to play media from network connected devices
I THINK libreelec only uses 512MB, so you could put videos in the /storage/videos folder
Hello Tim_Taylor,
It's not possible to play media from the usb stick or HDD, the controller is taking this slot.(the coowell V5 have no Bluetooth no IR control)
The media I will take with me occupy's more than the available space left on the LE cart.
The place where I use the stick has no internet connection and no computer is available
So the options you give are not usable for me.
Greetings Herman
You could get a USB hub...
So the options you give are not usable for me.
It´s OK. You don´t want it
Hermankodi Try using this command before running installtointernal:
dd if=/flash/dtb.img of=/sys/class/dtb/nfdtb bs=256k count=1
Remember that you don't have to reinstall Android between your trials, simply continue using LE from SD card while trying to find a solution.
Hello kszaq,
after running installtointernal and the system reboots the Coowell splashscreen is not displayed anymore
And the following tekst is displayed
*** Error in mount_flash: mount_common: Could not mount LABEL;=LIBREELEC ***
### Starting debugging shell ... type exit to quit ###
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
when I type exit
the libreelec splash screen is displayed and after a few seconds
the same tekst is displayed
*** Error in mount_flash: mount_common: Could not mount LABEL;=LIBREELEC ***
### Starting debugging shell ... type exit to quit ###
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
then after a minute or so the screen go's black and later the following tekst is displayed
*** Error in prepare_sysroot: mount_common: could not mount /flash/SYSTEM ***
### Starting debugging shell ... type exit to quit ###
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
when I type exit
the following tekst is displayed
mount: mounting /flash on /sysroot/flash failed: No such file or directory
mount: mounting /storage on /sysroot/storage failed: No such file or directory
*** Error in prepare_sysroot: final_check: Could not find systemd! ***
### Starting debugging shell ... type exit to quit ###
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
when i type exit more than a screen full of error message's are display'd containing some tekst and A lot of hex codes
When I use your installtointernal_test20171231
the screen remains black
I hope you can use this info?
Greetings Herman
Hermankodi Have you tried using the command from my previous post? Also the script creates a backup of device tree in root folder of your SD card, please attach it here.
Hello kszaq
the are the result from your installtointernal
I have attached the backup device tree
LibreELEC:~ # dd if=/flash/dtb.img of=/sys/class/dtb/nfdtb bs=256k count=1
0+1 records in
0+1 records out
40695 bytes (39.7KB) copied, 0.988845 seconds, 40.2KB/s
LibreELEC:~ #
LibreELEC:~ # ./installtointernal_test20171231
This script will erase BOOT, SYSTEM, DATA and DTB on your device
and install LE that you booted from SD card/USB drive.
It will create a backup of device tree and recovery partition on your boot media.
The script does not have any safeguards!
Type "yes" if you know what you are doing or anything else to exit: yes

Hermankodi I will look at the dtb you attached later today. I understand that even after using the additional command your box doesn't boot from internal?
Hello kszaq,
Yes your assumption is correct.
the steps I took are
just to be clear I have installed a fresh copy of coowell android
Made sure this works ok
booted from card (containing LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2-8.2.2.2)
replaced the DTB with gxl_p212_1g_nand.dtb renamed as dtb.img
open putty did:
even after rebooting LE and run your installtointernal again no success.
to be sure when must I remove the card when rebooting?
Please take your time.
I am glad for your help
Greetings Herman
Hello kszaq,
I do not know if it is usefull to you but I have made A backup of my android dtb file
Greetings Hermandtb.img van coowellv5.gz.zip
Hermankodi Looks like the standard "nand" device tree I provide should work fine... But please try one of these (choose according to RAM):
Hallo kszaq
This was the file I have used
But to be sure I have taken the file from your last post this time
But the Coowell stil do not boot from internal
I took the following steps to install LE
clean install Coowoll V5 android 6 using AMBurning tool
sd card formatted and put install of LE s905.arm-8.2-8.2.2.2 on this card
replaced dtb.img with new one from your last download
started LE
Configured SSH reboot LE
Connected to LE using Putty
get the installtointernal from your post
dd if=/flash/dtb.img of=/sys/class/dtb/nfdtb bs=256k count=1
wget installtointernal_test20171231
chmod +x installtointernal_test20171231
./installtointernal_test20171231
answer yes
answer n to copy user data
let device reboot
Coowell splashscreen has gone
LE booted from card
run ./installtointernal_test20171231
answer yes
answer n to copy user data
let device reboot
shut down device
removed card
power device on
only black screen
Greetings Herman
Hello Kszaq and others,
I finally have installed A version of LE to NAND
But it is A old version
These are the specs of the system
CPU AArch64 Processor rev 4 (aarch64)
Hardware amlogic
Revision 020a
kodi16.1
compiled Nov 6 2016
LibreELEC (COMMUNITY)
VERSION 7.02.009
ARCH S905.AARCH64
Can I now upgrade this version to the latest version
The version I have now running works ok but some add ons like uitzending gemist needs A new version of KODI.
But I can now use the card for movies and other media
Greetings Herman
I have attached the DTB file used and the backup
I hope Zszaq wil now have a clue what was wrong
Hermankodi Unfortunately you can't upgrade to 8.2 or 8.90 build for now as it requires an updated device tree and your device seems to be refusing it, you would get a black screen.
Please try installing 8.2 using this device tree: gxl_p212_1g_coowell_v5.dtb
Please don't use the modified script, use installtointernal
